TianjinEducationalCollegefromApril19toApril23,1999.Thiseventwas
causedbyanarticlewrittenbyHeZuoxiu,aphysicalscientistandaca-
demicianoftheChineseAcademyofSciences.Thearticle
,whichwaspublishedinthecollege
publication ,citedacasethataPhDstudent
ofProf.HewasobsessedbyLiHongzhi'stheorywhichledhimto
schizophrenia.Theattacklastedfourdays.
FalunGongpractitionersillegallybesiegedTianjinEducationalCollege.
ThiswasthecasewiththeunprecedentednumberofFalunGong
practitionersbesettingthemedia.Afterthemediareportedforthefirst
timethecasesofdeathandlunacyoftheFalunGongpractitionersin
1994,dozensofmediaorganizationscameunderorganizedattacksby
FalunGongpractitioners.
Thesemediaorganizationsincluded:

wasillegallybesiegedbymorethan2,000FalunGongpractitionersbe-
causeithadpublishedanarticleentitled
onApril1.
OnMay24,1998,BeijingTVreported acaseoflunacysufferedfrom
practicingFalunGong.ItwasbesiegedbythousandsofFalunGongprac-
titioners.BeijingTVwasthenforcedtofireoneofitseditors.
Followingthisevent,LiHongzhireleasedawell-knownarticle
whichwascalledlectionbyFalunGong,mentioningthat,
"somenewspapers,radiostationsandTVstationsinvariouspartsofthe
countryhaveharmedourDafa...ThiswasdeliberatelyharmingDafaand
cannotbeignored...DafadisciplesinBeijingadoptedaspecialapproach
toaskthosepeopletostopharmingDafa 要thisactuallywasnotwrong."
Inthesamearticle,LiHongzhiwarnedthepractitionerswhohadn't
participatedinthebesetment,"AtthecrucialmomentwhenIaskedyouto
breakawayfromhumanness,youdidnotfollowme.Eachopportunitywill
notoccuragain."

andphysicalscientist,wasdenigratedbyLiHongzhias"scienceruffian"
andwasthreatenedandmolestedbyFalunGongdisciplesbecausehe
oftendiscloseddaylightontheabnormaldeathcasesofFalunGongprac-
titionersandcriticizedFalunGongtheory.

InNovember1998,theBBCWorldreleased areportbyCorrespon-
dentJamesMilesaboutFalunGong.ThereportpointedoutthatFalun
Gongis"No.1Cult"inChinaandwarnedpeoplethatFalunGongwould
leadto"CollectiveSuicide."FalunGongsupporterswrotetoCEOofBBC,
theBritishAmbassadortoChinaandtheBritishPrimeMinisterrespec-
tively,demandingforBBC'spublicapology."Thereactionwasquiteex-
traordinary,"saidMileslater,"MoreresponsethantoanyarticleI'veever
writteninmyentirecareer."
OnNovember3,2001,the publishedanarticle
criticizingFalunGong.Thearticleisaself-statementbyaformerfemale
FalunGongfollowernamedHeBing.AnumberofFalunGongsupporters
lodged alawsuitagainstthenewspaperforits"libel."OnDecember7,
2005,theSupremeCourtofQuebecofCanadacametothefinalverdict
ofthecaseafterfouryears:theplaintiffFalunGonglostthelawsuit.The
verdictpointedout,"FalunGongisacontroversialmovement,whichdoes
notacceptcriticism."
InDecember2003,theAustralian publishedadeclara-
tionbyChineseEmbassyinAustraliaagainstFalunGong.InMay2004,
FalunGonglodgedalawsuitattheSupremeCourtofNewSouthWales
againstthenewspaperforits"libel."Afterwards,FalunGongmadeuseof
itsownmediatowidelyattackthe andmadepersonalat-

tacksonthenewspaper'seditor-in-chiefandothereditors.OnApril5,
2006,theSupremeCourtofNSWofAustraliaruledthatFalunGonglost
thelawsuitwhile won.
OnJanuary21,2005,theAssociatedPresspublishedanarticleenti-
tled ,whichobjectivelyreported
thestatusquooftheparticipantsoftheTian'anmenSquareself-immola-
tionincidentontheChineseNewYear'sEveandtheirreflectionsonFalun
Gong.OnthemorningofJanuary25,FalunGongorganizedagroupof
peopletodemonstratebeforetheofficebuildingwheretheAssociated
PressheadquarterswaslocatedinManhattanofNewYork,demanding
thattheAPwithdrawthereport.OnFebruary11, ,ofFalun
Gong,publishedanarticlecallingtheAP"down-to-earthsmallbastard."
TheGreatWallPlatformcooperatedwithRogersCompanyin
scrupulouslyselecting9representativechannelsfrom17channelsofthe
AmericanGreatWallPlatform.TheRogersCableagentislefttoapply
withtheCRTCfortheentitlementtotheprogramtrans-broadcasting.
Such alocalChineseculturalandrecreationalaffairwasobstructedby
FalunGongbyeverymeans.BetweenMarchandJuneof2006,Falun
Gongorganizeditsmembersformanytimestodemonstratebeforethe
Rogers'headquartersinToronto,whichseverelyaffectedthenormalrun-
ningofRogersCompany.OnDecember22,2006,theGreatWallPlat-
formgainedpermissiontoopenitsbusinessinCanada.
FalunGonggroupedthefollowerstodemonstratebeforetheRogersCable
HeadquartersinToronto.
