This document is the thesis submitted by Ms. Nacera Dahlouk and Ms. Merieme Hachemi in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Master's degree in Didactics. The thesis explores the beliefs and attitudes of teachers and students at the English department of Blida 2 University, Algeria regarding the issue of grade inflation. A questionnaire was administered to 50 students and 7 teachers to collect both quantitative and qualitative data on their views about the existence, causes, and consequences of grade inflation. The findings reveal that many teachers and students believe grade inflation exists in their department and is mainly caused by student pressure for higher marks. Participants agreed the main consequences are deteriorating work ethics and grades failing to accurately reflect student
