ABEIDAVIT
Michael J. Carezza, Special Agent, Federal Bureau of Investigation, being
daly sworn, states:
1. Lama Special gern, ef the Federal Bureau of Investigation (b3I} and

assigned to the Pudlic Corruption Squad. | have been assigned to the
Public Corruption Squad for approxirsately vight yoars, and have also
worked and investigated publi
matters throughout my

carcer, | have also investigated white collar crime, fugitive, anus
vicfent crime matters. In my current assignment, | have been
involved in the “nwestigation of public corruption offenses which are
vivlalions of federal stetotes within the jurisictior of the FBI. |
Personally participated n the investigation of violations of federal
law by JOHN ANALETTO ("ANALFTTO") and others during the course
of this investigation.
2. During my tenure with the H8t, Ihave been involved in dozens of
invest’galions. | have debrinfed defendants, informants, and
witnesses. Fhave conducted surveillance, worked with confidential
informants, and participated in investigavions using court-authorired
interception of wire and electronic com munications. During my law
enforcement rarcer, | have alsa participated in the preparation and
execution of numerous arrest wartants anc search werrants
this affidavit is submitted in supaort of a criminal complaint charging,
ANAL FTTO with collection of extensions of credit by extortionate
means in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 894 (a}.
This affidavit is being submitted for te limited purpose of
establishing Probable Lause tu heliovn that ANALLTTO violated 145
U.S.C, § 894(a}, thave included only those facts | bel eve ta he
necessary To make his showing. This affidavit does not inc’ude each
and every fact known to me concerning this investigation. Ihe
foregoing facts are based on my personal paricipation in this
investigation, including but not limited to, first-hanc abservetions of
ANALEI1Q, as well as my conversations with other federal and state
[aw enforcement officers, & substantial warl of the evidence in
support of this affidavit is based an consersual su-reptitious
recordings.
5. On December 19, 2014, a confidetstial witness ("CW") met wits me,
CW indicated tha: CW has been invo'ved in legal interstate gambling
businesses for aporoximately seventeen years. During tho past year,
(CW was introduced to ANALETTO, a Massachusetts State Trogper,
‘through a mutual friend, and thereafter ANALETIO became a beltor :
with CW, ANALCTTO learned of CW's outstanding debts to
loansharks and offered Lo loan Cw mancy for some of these debts ia
exchange ‘or a percentage of CW's gambling business, Initially, and
on of about Lhe week ending September 25, 2011, ANALETTO loaned
CW $11,000 Tor these purposes. Subsequently, and an ar about the
week ending October 30, 2011, ANALETTO loaned Clan additiona
$15,A0UU for these same purposes. In making the initial loan to Cw,
ANALETTO Lhreatened ‘0 “kill” CW if he/she did anything to affect
ANALET-O's pension, ANALLTEC also agreed to bring bettors to
‘CW's business, and in exchange demanded a higher percentage from

6. ANALCTTO initially established repayment terms for the $24,000 he
loa red CW as follows: $500 principal return per week, plus weekty
interest return. on CW's gambling business profics. Initially,
ANALETTO set the interest rate regarding the profits at
approximately 10% weekly, than raised it to 15% weekly, and more
recently, inwered the rate to 12.5% weekly. Irresaertive of the time
required to psy off the loae(s}, ANALETTO demanded w jscentage af

On Decenilner 23, 2011, ANALETTO met with CW in 3elmont and
accepted $1,500 from CW in exchange for luan amaunls due by Cw
and gambling profits owed to ANALETTO, ANALETTO ane CW
discussed certain business matters and amounts owed by CW to
ANALETTO, During she meeting, ANALLTTO became angry a: CW
regarding tho amout of monies still owed oy CW te ANALTTIO,
During these discussions, ANALETTO stated to Cw, “will [atl you?

On December 26, 2011, CW spnke on the telephone with ANALETTO
regarding monies owed to him (ANALLTTO}. In discussing a
parliculer bettor wha owed CW meney, ANALETTO made statements
to CW that he (ANALCTTO) would break into the individual's house
and physically harm the bettor and sexually assault bettar’s mother,
ANALETTO then get angry with CW and again threatened to kill CW,
stating in words or substance that he would buy a ski mask, break
into CW's house during the night anu kill CW in hissher sleep and that
there would be no wilnesses
On December 30, 2011, ANALETTO met with CW at a pre arranged
location in Belmont. CW was furnished $3,608 by the FBI to provide
Lo ANALETTO. During the meeting, ANALE1 0 became physically
violent with CW, head butting him/her and then slapaing CW's face.
ANALETTO also talked about causing harm to battcrs whe owe CW
money. During that same mecting, ANALETTO demanded the
telepFone number of bettor (unsub aka “Chris”, ANALETTO Lald CW
that CW needed to travel to "Chris's" house to collec: Lhe maney.
ANALFTTO also told CW that he (ANALETTO} his a friend that has
been arrested three times for gambling, boosmaking, ancl
racketecring and that he has not spent one cay in jail. AALETTO
‘then stared in sum and substance regarcing “Chris”

ANAIFITO then placed a telephone call to what is delieved to be
“Chris's” telephone number and left a message stating in suir anc
substance:

(b) We're calling to see inwe can recaup some of our
investmeat.
(C} You owe “38”, we'll round it to tour wath ‘nterest.
(0) We'd appreciate if you: contact the right people and start
doing the right thing, Or 2012 isn’t gone be tne goad ‘or

ANALET/O also told CW “Whether you pay me or not aver the life of
the lozn, but after five years and three months, when I retire, lm
coming for you for my money, if you're sul alive.” At. one point
during the meeting, ANALCTTO told CW that he (ANALF IO) wou't
hhurt or kill CW, er anyone, and tha he just

money, However, ANALETTO made this statementin a threatening
tone end continued to speak with the CW iaa theeatening manner
for the remainder vf Lhe comvers
in. This intersetion between the
(CW and ANALETTO described in this paragraoh was also
memerialized on fim through the use of a concealed audi and video
Fecorcing device previcusly installed on CW's person by the HBL
Based on my training and experience as a law enforcement officer, as
well as my review of this reco-ding, | believe hat the threats wade
by ANALETTO are significant, Further the CW’ continues to convey lo
ine that CW fears for his/her life.
10.Based on the information set forth above, I believe probable cause
exists to conclude that on or about December 26 and 30, 2011,
ANALETTO vivlated 18 US.C. § 894 (9)
