These and other innovations placed G rum man in the forefront of U.S. Navy aircraft production during the 1930s. When the Second World War began. Grumman shifted to full scale war production and during the war 31.376 Grumman aircraft were produced. 17.573 were built by Grumman and 13.803 by the General Motors Eastern Aircraft Division, which produced the FM-I. FM-2. TBM and some 330 J2F-3 Ducks under license.Rapid 17
