The first and highly successful IAHR book was “Turbulence Models and their
ApplicationinHydraulics’’byW.Rodi,publishedin1984byBalkema.“Turbulence
inOpenChannelFlows’’byI.NezuandH.Nakagawa,alsopublishedbyBalkema(in
1993),hadanimportantimpactonthefieldand,duringtheperiod2000–2010,further
authoritative texts (published directly by IAHR) included Fluvial Hydraulics by S.
YalinandA.DaSilvaandHydrauliciansinEuropebyW.Hager.Allofthesepublica-
tionscontinuetostrengthenthereachofIAHRandtoserveasimportantintellectual
referencepointsfortheAssociation.
Since2011,theBookSeriesisonceagainapartnershipbetweenCRCPress/Balkema–
Taylor&FrancisGroupandtheTechnicalCommitteesofIAHR. Thepresentbookisan
excitingfurthercontributiontoIAHR’sBookSeries,substantiallyaidingwaterengineer-
