About European Journal of Teacher Education
This article discusses professional development schools (PDS), which are learning organizations formed through collaborations between university teacher education programs and their K-12 school partners. The PDS model simultaneously focuses on the learning of preservice teachers, inservice teachers, and K-12 students. The article presents examples of two different teacher education programs and how they align with the Standards for Professional Development Schools published by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The contribution of the standards to establishing PDS learning communities as emerging organizations is also discussed.
