To my husband,
Mark, my Prince and the love of my life,
who continually reminds me that
true love and romance are not only the
ultimate magics,
but that they’re alive and well and
dancing in our hearts...
and to his mother,
Ann,
who brought him into this world
and raised him to be the
Prince of my dreams.
Acknowledgments
Writing this book was much like living a fairy tale. There
were magical moments of wonder and awe, days when the sun
smiled upon me without fail, and nights when the moon en-
chanted all in Her view. My very existence seemed charmed.
No matter where I stepped or how far I wandered, things just
fell into place. Life was good, magic was afoot, and its wonders
appeared at every turn of the road.
But as with all fairy tales, there were aggravations, too.
Some of them came in the form of trolls. Others came in the
shape of dragons. The worst, though, were the carefully cam-
ouflaged pools of quicksand I found along the way, each so
deep and dense I thought I’d never climb free. Fortunately, I
had help. There were folks who cared enough to yank me out
of the muck and the mire, point me in the right direction, and
keep me going. Had it not been for their input, courage, and
sense of conviction, this book would never have seen comple-
tion. To that end, I owe the following people more than just a
simple vote of thanks. I owe them my undying gratitude.
To my dear friend and confidante, Linn Lipford, the Queen
of the Chopping Block, who conjured this book in her mind’s
eye, pushed me to write it, and refused to give me one moment
of peace until it was done.
To the Royal Court of New Page: Ron, Anne, Laurie, Jodi,
Stacey, Kirsten, Jackie, and Briana, who waved magic wands
and conjured powerful spells to get this book out on time, onto
the shelves, and into your hands.
To Mike Lewis, the White Knight of acquisitions editors,
who slew dragons at the speed of light, knocked ogres out of
beanstalks, and obliterated every bridge-hugging troll along the
way.
To my Fairy Godmother, Patricia Telesco, whose magic
rendered an invitation to the ball of authorship, provided the
golden coach that brought me there, and keeps me from fall-
ing flat on my face while waltzing through life.
To Sirona Knight, Sorceress Extraordinaire, whose bub-
bling cauldron of encouragement consistently dispels my
fears and insecurities and bathes me in the warmth of true
friendship.
To the incredibly captivating Prince of Yetis, A.J. Drew,
whose zest for life, love of fun, and remarkable sense of per-
sonal generosity and friendship continues to inspire me along
the personal path.
To murder mystery King, M.R. Sellars, a Prince Charming
in his own right, whose constant friendship, words of encour-
agement, and long-distance hugs keep me going when I don’t
think I can.
To Sandi Liss, my favorite Princess Perfect, for her gener-
osity in allowing me to use her conjuring story, for graciously
perusing chapters, and for her ongoing support and friendship.
To Scott Appell, the charming Prince of the New York
Horticultural Society, for lending his magical expertise and help
in working out the details for the lust charms in this book.
Most of all, to The Dunigan Clan, whose sense of family is
unsurpassed and whose appreciation for that which matters
most—honor, integrity, and the true meaning of love—keeps me
ever mindful that real princes and princesses are born every day.
