Amedeo D’Adamo was the founding dean and then president of the Los
Angeles Film School, a fl oating graduate fi lm- crafts conservatory in Hollywood,
CA, USA. He is currently a visiting professor in the Cinéma MA at the University
of Switzerland (It), teaches graduate- level fi lm marketing and fi lm directing at
the Universita Cattolica, Italy and co-r uns the Documentary Summer School at
the Locarno Film Festival. He also co-f ounded The Traveling Film School, a non-
profi t organization that provides free fi lm and theatre training to children in
underdeveloped regions; it has built small tuition-f ree fi lm schools in Cameroon
and Sardinia. A fi lmmaker whose fi lms have been in major festivals, he holds
an MFA in fi lm from Columbia University.
David Baker teaches cinema and cultural studies in the School of Humanities
at Griffi th University, Australia. He has followed David Bowie’s work with
considerable interest since his early teens in the early 1970s. He has published
on popular cultural topics such as Elvis movies, lesbian vampire fi lms of the
1960s and 70s, and Bob Dylan on screen.
Jennifer Otter Bickerdike is programme leader and senior lecturer in music
and popular culture at Buckinghamshire New University. Jennifer’s fi rst book,
Fandom, Image and Authenticity: Joy Devotion and the Second Lives of Kurt
Cobain and Ian Curtis is published by Palgrave.
Will Brooker is professor of fi lm and cultural studies at Kingston University,
London, UK. His books include Batman Unmasked, Using the Force, Alice’s
Adventures, The Blade Runner Experience and Hunting the Dark Knight .
His next monograph will be F orever Stardust: David Bowie Across the
Universe .
Ian Chapman is a senior lecturer in music and convener of the Contemporary
Performance Degree Programme at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New
Zealand. A music iconographer and specialist in glam rock, David Bowie was
the subject of both his PhD and masters theses.
