Preface
ItisourgreatpleasuretointroducetheproceedingsoftheFifthInternationalConference
on Emerging Technologies in Computing (iCETiC 2022), held on the 15th and 16th
August,2022.Thisyear,theconferencewasphysicallyheldattheUniversityofChester,
UK. This was an important move towards the ‘old normal’ following the COVID-19
pandemic.
ThethemeofiCETiC2022was‘EmergingTechnologies’asoutlinedbythe2021
GartnerHypeCycleforEmergingTechnologies.Thisconferencedrewtogetherinter-
nationalresearchersanddevelopersfrombothacademiaandindustryinthedomainsof
computing,networkingandcommunicationsengineering.
iCETiC 2022 was organised by the International Association for Educators and
Researchers (IAER). As a knowledge partner, the European Alliance for Innovation
(EAI) also played a significant role, both in organising the conference and publishing
theproceedings.
ThetechnicalprogramofiCETiC2022consistedof12fullpapersinoralpresentation
sessionsinthemainconferencetracks.Theprimaryconferencetrackswere:
(cid:129) Track1–InformationandNetworkSecurity;
(cid:129) Track2–Cloud,IoT,andDistributedComputing;
(cid:129) Track3–AI,ExpertSystems,andBigDataAnalytics.
Thepaperswereselectedfrom54submissionsusingablindreviewprocessinwhich
eachsubmissionwasreviewedbyatleast3TechnicalProgramCommitteemembers.
Apart from the high-quality technical paper presentations, the technical program
featuredtwokeynotespeechesgivenbyVicGroutfromWrexhamGlyndwˆrUniversity,
UK,andJonathanC.RobertsfromBangorUniversity,UK.
Itwasagreatpleasuretoworkwithsuchanexcellentorganisingcommitteeteam,
whoputinsignificanteffortinorganisingandsupportingtheconference.Theworkofthe
TechnicalProgrammeCommitteemembersisalsomuchappreciated:theycompletedthe
peer-reviewprocessforthetechnicalpapersculminatinginahigh-qualityprofessional
programme.
Yetagain,iCETiC2022providedanexcellentforumforresearchers,developersand
practitionerstodiscussrecentadvancementsincomputing,networkingandcommuni-
cationsengineering.WewillcontinuetostrivetoensurethatfutureiCETiCconferences
willbeassuccessfulandstimulating.
