ABOUT THE EDITORS
B. N. Dar, PhD, is a Visiting Scientist at Institute of Food Science, Cornell
University, Ithaca, New York, USA. He started his professional career in
2012 as Assistant Professor in food technology at the Islamic University of
Science & Technology, Awantipora, JK, India. He has received C.V. Raman
Fellowship by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. He has
also received UGC Research Award 2014–2016 in the field of agricultural
sciences. He has worked on a multimillion-dollar research project on minor
fruits and vegetables of Kashmir with the Department of Biotechnology,
Government of India. He is also associated with five other major research
projects as Co-PI/member. Dr. Dar is a member of several reputed interna-
tional associations, including the Institute of Food Technologists, Academic
Society for Functional Foods and Bioactive Compounds, World Academy
of Science, Engineering and Technology, ISEKI-Food Association, and
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. He has an active presence
in public policy discourse through his position as a technical expert. He has
published more than 50 research and review papers in his field in various
prestigious national and international journals and has presented papers at
many conferences. A graduate in agricultural sciences, for his advanced
studies, he selected food technology as his field of specialization and earned
his master’s and doctorate in 2008 and 2011, respectively.
Shabir Ahmad Mir, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Government
College for Women, Srinagar, India. Dr. Mir has published numerous inter-
national papers and book chapters and has edited two books. In addition to
a close association with many scientific organizations in the area of food
technology, he is an active reviewer for the several journals, including
Food Chemistry, Journal of Cereal Science, Journal of Food Science and
Technology, Food Packaging and Shelf Life, and others. He earned his PhD
in food technology at Pondicherry University, Puducherry, India. He has
received the Best Whole Grain PhD Thesis Award 2016 (South Asia) for
outstanding research work by the Whole Grain Research Foundation.
