In questo episodio dalla dignità autonoma dei Fratelli Karamazov, Fëdor Dostoevskij afferma il proprio pensiero filosofico-religioso: la libertà dell’essere umano si basa su una fede senza dogmi e miracoli, senza gerarchie e autorità, contrapposta alla dottrina che in nome di un mandato superiore e indiscutibile sottrae agli uomini la consapevolezza di sé e il libero arbitrio.
