Managing Your User Account
Sitevisitorscancreateauser accountthatprovidesthemwiththeabilitytomanagetheir user

Signing up fora UserAccount
Visitorscansignuptobecome registeredsiteuser byclicking theRegister linklocatedat the

Logging into a Site
Registereduserscanlogintoaccessandmanagetheiruserprofile,andviewrestrictedcontent
andperform any site management tasks they have been granted access to undertake. This
topiccoverstheminimuminformationrequiredtologin,howeveradditionalinformationsuchas
name,addressdetailsandcontactdetailsmayberequiredonsomesites.
Tologintoasite,clicktheLoginlinkandenteryourusernameandpassword.The"Remember
Login"optioncanbeselectedtoretainlogincredentialsfor24hours.Becausethisfeatureadds
acookietothecomputerofthecurrentuseritwillonlyworkonthatcomputer.
First time users may need to verify their email to complete the registration process. Once
loggedinto thesite, userscan clickon their DisplayName tocomplete their profile and view
messagesandnotifications.

Logging in with ExternalAccounts
VisitorscanregisterandsignontoaDNN siteusingtheirexistingFacebook,Google,Windows
Live or Twitter account. This makes it easier than ever for customers and prospects to par-
ticipateinanonlinecommunity.Userswho arealreadyloggedintotheir Facebook, Windows
Live or Twitter accounts will be automatically logged into the DNN site once they click the
relatedlogin/signinbuttononDNN.FacebookallowsvisitorstocreateFacebookaccountdur-
ing login and enables users to determine which user groups can view posts created on the
DNNsite.E.g.Everyone,Friends(thedefaultsetting),OnlyMe,Custom,CloseFriends,Fam-
ily,etc.

Logging Outofa Site
Users can logout of a site by clicking the Logout link that is typically located in the top right
cornerofeachpage.Loggingoutwillforgetanylogincredentialsthathavebeensaved.Altern-
atively,userssimplyclosetheWebbrowsertoexitthesiteandremainloggedinnexttimeifthe
"RememberMe"settinghasbeenenabled.
Resetting YourPassword
Userswho forget their password can clicking theReset Password buttonon the login win-
dow.
Userscan then enter their user name and request that a passwordreset link be sent to the
emailaddressassociatedwiththeuseraccount.
Note:The "ResetPassword option iscurrently unavailable"message may displayif the mail
serverisnotworking.AdministratorsshouldcontactaSuperUser tocheckSMTPSettingsfor
thissite.
Profile Management
Changing aPassword
Userscanupdate their password andview passwordexpiryand lastchanged detailsvia the
ManageAccounttaboftheirprofile.
Completing aUser Profile
Userscanaddandmanagethepersonaldetailsdisplayedontheir profileincludingtheir name,
contactdetails, biography,photo, time zoneand preferredlocale based onthe cultures (lan-
guages) enabled on the site (See "Enablinga Language"). Contact information supplied for
TwitterandFacebookisautomaticallycapturedwhenauser logsinwiththeirTwitter or Face-
bookaccount,howeveritisonlyvisibletoAdministratorsbydefault.Userscanmanagethepri-
vacyofeachprofilefieldbymodifyingtheVisibility setting.Inthedefaultsetup,all name
fieldsandthe user photoare publiclyvisibleand allother fields onlyvisibleto Administrators.
TheFriendsand Groupsvisibility settingthat restrictsvisibilityto thefriends andsocial group
memberscanbefurther refinedtofriendsand/or followers.Note:Administratorscanaddand

Managing Notifications
Usersarenotifiedofeventssuchfriendrequestsandcanquicklyviewandrespondtoeachnoti-
ficationmessagebyclickingtheCheck Notifications buttonwhichindicatesthenumber of
newnotifications.UserscanchoosetoAcceptorDismissfriendrequestsand/orchoosetoFol-
lowBacktheseusers.Individualorallnotificationscanbedismissed.
