Preface
This book covers the global digital revolution of the post- pandemic era. The popu-
lation has been overcoming the COVID-1 9 period; therefore, we need to establish
intelligent digital healthcare systems using various emerging technologies like
blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The recent advanced technology helps
to promote green and clean modern societies endlessly. The Internet of things
(IoT) will be dominating and playing an essential role in the upcoming years in
remote health monitoring, and sustainable development through digital transfor-
mations. Smart healthcare technology can be defined as using smartphones and
electronic technology for good diagnosis of disease, improving treatment of the
patients, and enhanced quality of life. The end-t o- end clinical data connectivity
involves the development of many technologies that should enable secure, reli-
able, and location-a gnostic communication between a patient and a healthcare
provider. Smart healthcare can reduce the time, cost, and risk of IoT deployments
in healthcare, and gives superior efficiency and patient care. Medical data protec-
tion is one of the main challenges nowadays for end- to- end delivery. Internet of
Medical Things (IoMT) is the major technological innovation that has included
the element of “smartness” in the healthcare industry and also identifies, monitors,
and informs service providers about the patient’s clinical information with faster
delivery-of-care services. Big Data helps to build a smart healthcare system for
machine- to- machine and machine- to- home large volumes of medical data pro-
cessing. The cloud-a ssisted medical framework is used to enhance the strength
of the smart healthcare system because of cost savings, scalability, and system
flexibility.
This book focuses on identifying the need for and importance of a gold stan-
dard in medical datasets for effective analysis and intelligent diagnostics with
blockchain- integrated solutions. Multi- modal approaches for data fusion and IoT
and edge computing- based approaches for real- time health monitoring of patients
will also be covered here. The book explores the role of blockchain in providing a
transparent, faster, secure, and privacy-p reserved healthcare ecosystem for the
masses. AI is considered here for providing intelligent healthcare s ystem
management.

The book consists of 16 chapters in the field of digital smart healthcare systems.
A summary of each chapter is presented below.
Chapter 1: Blockchain and Internet of Things in Healthcare Systems:
Prospects, Issues, and Challenges
This chapter focuses on the applicability of IoT-b ased blockchain in the health-
care system. The various technologies used will allow the IoT devices to exchange
information about patient’s health progress and how they are responding to treat-
ment so their physicians can provide proper monitoring. The issues and chal-
lenges of these technologies are inventively discussed and identify the prospects
of IoT- based enabled with blockchain in the healthcare sector. The investigation
disputes in IoT-b ased enabled blockchain framework were discussed with a pro-
posed framework for the application of blockchain- enabled IoT- based systems.
Chapter 2: Secure Digital Health Data Management in Internet of Things
Using Blockchain and Machine Learning
In this chapter, a two-p art novel model is proposed to allay any security and pri-
vacy concerns in the Internet of Healthcare Things. The first part analyzes a
patient’s health parameters using machine learning detecting and discarding
anomalous data, and stores the non-a nomalous data with findings in a transparent,
secure fashion using blockchain. The second part provides a secure way to pre-
serve critical medical records in blockchain using sandboxed Secure Virtual
Machines to avoid any of the privacy issues and computational power constraints
of current existing solutions, making this model very secure.
Chapter 3: Revolutionizing Healthcare by Coupling Unmanned Aerial
Vehicles (UAVs) to Internet of Medical Things (IoMT)
This chapter aims to shed light on coupling different disciplines of IoMT and
UAVs in healthcare along with their capabilities, advantages, applications, and
challenges, and concludes with some recommendations and future work. This
contribution is a noticeable shift from exiting work in the literature, as it provides
a panoramic view on the proposed integration between IoMT and UAVs.
Chapter 4: Public Perception toward AI- Driven Healthcare and the Way
Forward in the Post- Pandemic Era
This chapter focuses on the general public’s understanding and perception of AI-
driven smart healthcare systems. To explore if people from different age groups,
varied educational qualifications, different incomes, and varying levels of techni-
cal literacy will accept this service with the same mindset or it will be different.
More numbers of samples have randomly been considered according to the
researcher’s convenience.
