Ihre abenteuerliche Flucht fuhrt sie durch die judaische Wuste am Toten Meer und schliesslich zum See Genezareth, wo es zu einer schicksalhaften Begegnung mit dem Wanderprediger Jesus aus Nazareth kommt. Timon ist von dem Auftreten und den Reden dieses ungewohnlichen Rabbi begeistert und schliesst sich ihm als Junger an. Jona verschlagt es indes nach Jerusalem. Dort gerat er in die Fange der romtreuen hohen Priesterschaft, die vor keinem Komplott zuruckschreckt, um ihre Macht zu sichern. Jona gerat in ihre Gefangenschaft. Fur seine Freiheit wird ein hoher Preis verlangt: Als Spitzel soll er in Jesu Umfeld eingeschleust werden.
