MANAGING AUTHORS
Wilburta (Billie) Q. Lindh, CMA, is an instructor and former program
director of the Medical Assistant Program at Highline Community
College, Des Moines, Washington. Lindh, who has taught at Highline
for ten years, is a member of the Sea-Tac chapter of the American
Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). A frequent lecturer at
AAMA seminars on the importance of communication, Lindh is co-
author of three other medical assisting texts, including Therapeutic
Communications for Allied Health Professions by Delmar Publishers.
Marilyn S. Pooler, RN, CMA-C, MEd, is a professor in the Medical
Assisting Department at Springfield Technical Community College,
Springfield, Massachusetts. Pooler has taught at Springfield for
twenty years and previously served as chair of the Medical Assisting
Department. She is on the certifying board of the AAMA task force
for test construction and is a member of the executive board of the
New England Association of Allied Health Educators. She also is a
site surveyor for AAMA, reviewing medical assisting programs at
schools and colleges seeking accreditation.
Carol D. Tamparo, CMA-A, PhD, is coordinator of the Medical
Assistant and Paralegal Programs at Highline Community College,
Des Moines, Washington. Tamparo, who has taught at Highline for
twenty-three years is a member of the Sea-Tac chapter of the AAMA.
She is also an AAMA site surveyor who regularly reviews medical
assisting programs at schools and colleges seeking accreditation.
Tamparo, a speaker at numerous AAMA seminars, is recognized as an
expert on medical law, ethics, and bioethics in the medical office. She
is co-author of three other medical assisting texts, including
Therapeutic Communications for Allied Health Professions by
Delmar Publishers.
Joanne U. Cerrato, BS, MT (ASCP), MA, is a professor, department
chairperson, and program director of the Clinical Laboratory Science
Department, Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield,
Massachusetts. Cerrato, who has taught at Springfield for fifteen
years, is a member of the American Society for Clinical Sciences,
Society for Clinical Pathologists, American Medical Technologists,
Clinical Laboratory Science Society of Central New England, and the
National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences
(NAACLS). She is also on the NAACLS task force of the laboratory
assistant curriculum and on the executive board of the New England
Association of Allied Health Educators.
