ConferenceofRACEF,heldinBarcelona(Spain),andtheInternationalConference
ofModellingandSimulationinEngineering,EconomicsandManagement,heldin
Chania, Crete (Greece), 7–8 November 2013, through this Book of Proceedings.
WewouldalsoliketothankConstantinZopounidisfromtheAMSEfororganizing
the conference and Prof. Jaime Gil-Aluja, President of the Royal Academy of
EconomicandFinancialSciencesofSpain,fromRACEF.
MS’13 Chania is co-organized by the AMSE Association and the Technical
University of Crete, Greece. It is co-supported by the Spanish Royal Academy of
Financial and Economic Sciences andthe Spanish Ministry ofEducation, Culture
and Sports. It offers a unique opportunity for researchers and professionals to
present and exchange ideas concerning modelling, simulation and related topics
and shows how they can be implemented in the real world. In this edition of the
InternationalConference,wewanttogivespecialattentiontotheemergingareaof
ComputationalIntelligence.Inparticular,wewanttofocusontheimplementation
ofthesetechniquesintheEconomicSciences,CultureandSports.Thus,thetitleof
this book is “Decision Making and Knowledge Decision Support Systems”. It is a
verybroadresearchareathatincludesfuzzysettheory,neuralnetworks,evolution-
ary computation, probabilistic reasoning and chaotic computing as particular
research topics of this discipline. The growing importance of Decision Making in
theEconomicSciencesisobviouswhenlookingatthecomplexworldweareliving
in. Every year new ideas and products appear in the markets, making them very
flexible and with strong unpredicted fluctuations. Therefore, in order to deal with
ourworldinaproperway,weneedtousemodelsthatareabletoassessimprecision
