rangeofstyles,hechoreographedhisfirstballet,ToTheEternity.Sincethen,hehas
receivedseveralcommissionsandgrowingrecognitionforhispristine,classically
orientedworks.
MOSES PENDLETON receivedhisBAinEngUshliteraturefromDartmouthCollege
in 1971 andco-foundedPilobolusDanceTheaterinthesameyear Inthe 1970s
Piloboluswonworld-wideacclaimforitsinnovativeblendofacrobaticsandimagina-
tion,includingtheBerhnCriticsPrizein 1975.PierreCardinpresentedthegroupon
Broadwayin 1977.In 1979,hechoreographedandperformedintheParisOpera's
IntegraleEricSatie. MrPendletonbegantoworkoutsidePilobolusin 1980whenhe
choreographedtheclosingceremoniesfortheWinterOlympicsatLakePlacid.Healso
performedhissoloMomixattheGames,whichbecamethenameofthecompanyhe
foundedthefollowingyear. InadditiontohisworkwithMomLx,Pendletonh;usbeen
activeaschoreographerandperformerfornumerousothercompaniesincludingthe
Jofl^reyBallet,BalletdeNancyandLinaWertmuller'sproductionofCarmenwiththe
MunichStateOperain 1993.

Our aspiringyoung artists are preparedto pursue careers in
performance, teaching or choreography Former students ofthe
School ofDance have gone on to performwith such prominent
companies asAlvinAlley theJoffreyBallet,Jose Limon, Bejart,
Momix, Philadanco and Rod Rogers. Theyhave also appeared
in the Broadwayproductions ofEvita, Cats, and Brigadoon.
Alumni have become dance teachers in high schools, colleges,
andprivate dance studios. Graduates have found numerous
choreograpliic opportunities in companies throughout theworld
and several have estabhshed their own companies. The School
ofDance, atThe UniversityoftheArts, is one ofthe largest dance
departments in the United States.
