FOREWORD
In his Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth, Buckminster Fuller warned of the risk of human extinc-
tion through over-specialization. He said what was needed was more “comprehensivists” — individuals
dedicated to thinking in terms of the whole. Marshall Lefferts is a paragon of what Bucky had in mind.
As close friends and colleagues for over two decades, we have witnessed Marshall synthesize a lifetime’s
work into this beautiful, profound and very useful book. Combining pattern recognition with astute
insight, he offers an unprecedented perspective that coheres physics, geometry, math, music and con-
sciousness to provide a star map for those on the ultimate journey to discover how to live in harmony
with the cosmic life force so that humanity can truly thrive. As a master musician himself, he reminds
us that “Uni-verse” means “one song”, and that music holds the keys to accessing the healing, the pow-
er and the wisdom of a Unified Field.
Cosmometry shows us that everything we experience is the result of vibration, at various frequencies

PREFACE
Cosmometry is a word that has been in the English language for a few centuries, though it has never
been in popular use. When I first thought of the word in 2005 as a substitute for the currently popular
name for this field of interest, Sacred Geometry, I thought I had made it up. I also thought it sounded
a little funny, having the word “mom” in the middle of it. When I did an online search on the word,
I was amazed to find that, out of thousands of search results, there were only two uses of cosmometry
in scientific papers and about a half-dozen references to it in channeled writings by Masters from the
Sirian star system (who, by the way, appear to really understand the importance of cosmometry as a
field of knowledge). The rest were either dictionary definitions or strangely jumbled sets of words on
otherwise blank web pages that included cosmometry in the list.
“The art of measuring the world or universe” is its formal definition, which while it’s evident what it
means, it is also very generalized. And as well, how could you measure the world or the universe when the
world is clearly an integral aspect of the universe? Seemed like a strange and limited definition to me. I am
proposing, therefore, an expanded definition of cosmometry as being the study of fundamental patterns,
structures, processes and systems that are inherent in manifestation at all scales within the cosmos.
There is a rapidly emerging understanding of the Unified Field in which all things exist, the foundation
of which appears to rest upon an integral synthesis of cosmic geometry, physics, music and conscious-
ness that arises through the study of the patterns that unify them as a coherent system. Cosmometry is
a name for this pursuit that fits the inclinations of both artists and spiritual teachers (who tend to refer
to Sacred Geometry as the label for this field) and scientists (who are definitely not going to use that
term as a context for their research in this field).
One of my great guides and teachers on this path of discovery, Buckminster Fuller (whose work is
foundational to cosmometry), said that we are all “artist-scientists” by nature, born to explore, learn,
develop skills and express talents through both artistic inspiration and scientific investigation. Over my
40 years of pursuing what I now call cosmometry, I’ve generally considered myself to be more on the
artist side of the equation, looking for patterns in nature and seeking creative ways to visually reveal
the implicit energy dynamics that inform them. It became obvious to me that until I could visually
show others what I was seeing, it would be too challenging for them to understand what I was trying to
convey through words alone. Thanks to the advent of computer graphics, it became possible for me to
