Preface
The ongoing and intense development of computer science influences the fast
growth of computer networks. Computer networks, as well as the entire area
of computer science, are the subjects of regular changes resulting from general
technological advancement and the development of new IT technologies. Novel
methods, together with tools for designing and modeling computer networks,
are regularly extended. The essential issue is the fact that the scope of their
application is increased thanks to the results of new research and new applica-
tion proposals that regularlyappear. Solutions of this kind were not even taken
into consideration in the past decades. These recent applications stimulate the
progressofscientific research.This bookis the resultofthese considerationsde-
scribed.Itincludescontributionsthatrefertoabroadspectrumofcontemporary
issues and problems.

Thebookcollatestheworkofscientistsfromnumerousnotableresearchcen-
ters.ItwascreatedasacollectionofpaperspresentedontheComputerNetworks
(CN) 2014 International Conference in Bruno´w Palace. The venue was a small
village called Bruno´w located near Lw´owek S´laski (Poland). The event took
(cid:2)
place during June 23–27, 2014. The conference, which has been organized reg-
ularly since 1994 by the Institute of Informatics from the Faculty of Automatic
Control, Electronics, and Computer Science of Silesian University of Technol-
ogy in Gliwice, is the oldest event related to computer networks in Poland,
and one of the first events of this kind. Moreover, it attained international sta-
tus six years ago. The current edition was the 21st edition in a row and the

seventhinternationalone.Thisyear,likelastyear,theconferencetookplaceun-
dertheauspicesofIEEE(technicalco-sponsor).Moreover,theiNEER(theInter-
nationalNetworkforEngineeringEducationandResearch)becameaconference
partner.Asinpreviousyears,thereviewofeachofthe paperswasdouble-blind,
performed by at least two reviewers. The contents of this book are organized
thematically, including the following domains:
– Computer Networks
– Teleinformatics and Communications
– New Technologies
– Queueing Theory
– Innovative Applications
– Networked and IT-Related Aspects of e-Business
Each domain includes very stimulating studies that should be of interest to
a wide readership.
To sum up, on behalf of the Program Committee we would like to express
our appreciation to all the authors for sharing their research results and for
their assistance in creating the proceedings, which in our judgment are a reli-
able reference on computer networks. We also want to thank the members of
the international Program Committee for their participation in the reviewing
process.
