This book is a compilation of texts whose purpose is to provide the sincere seeker a
solid and thorough study material on the most sacred Art. Its title may cause controversy,
since no tome, however large, can be called “complete”. I do not mean this book excludes
other readings, or covers every aspect of magic. That would be impossible. I use the term in
the sense that someone who knows nothing, or almost nothing, about the subject can be
guided by this volume until mastery.
There is no point in reading this book as a novel. There is little value here for the
scholar searching academic knowledge. It will certainly scare the casual reader motivated by
an abstract and feeble interest to grasp those concepts intellectually. And can bring no good
for those who expect to find here magical and instantaneous solutions for the problems of
life. This is a coursebook, with many theoretical lectures and a large amount of practical
work. It was designed as a program to make you a magician, a wizard. It is a key to deepest
secrets, a path to grave mysteries.
I can guide you, if you so wish. Guide, not teach. I am just the cicerone. You will be
taught by the leading experts on each subject. This explains the apparently chaotic nature of
this collection. I have selected the most accurate, clear and didactic texts for each lesson, to
guarantee that the student will receive the best education available. The list of the
references used here can be found below. I do not own any copyright and did not receive
permission to use this material. I do not want to profit from this course and anyone who
receives any material advantage from this book is committing a crime. If you become a
student of this course and have the resources, please buy the original books.
If you are willing to take this course, you must strictly follow the instructions in the
study guide. Every lesson has a theoretical and a practical part. You must do the readings
and the exercises. You will never be a magician by thinking about magic. Reserve a few
minutes each day to practice, to perform rituals.
The course is divided in three parts. The first one comprises three lessons, and is
the introduction to the studies. By doing this, the student acquires the foundations for later
work and verifies whether magic is his/her path or not. Entering the second part, the student
receives the title of Neophyte. This title means “newly planted”, and shows that the student is
truly a magic apprentice, someone who is committed to learn all the fundamental magical
principles. Through twelve lessons, the student will master the essential techniques that will
allow him/her to utilise the most advanced tools in the Art. In the third and final part of the
course, the Neophyte becomes an Adept (in Latin, Adeptus for men, Adepta for women),
someone who is a skilled magician in training and has a profound knowledge, but has not
mastered the Art yet. Finishing the course, and with diligent study and practice, the student
will be entitled to be called a Master of the Mystical Arts (Magister/Magistra).

STUDY GUIDE
PRELIMINARY STUDIES
An advice for this period of studies is expressed in the ancient Latin motto: “Festina Lente”,
Make Haste Slowly. In the beginning of the course, the student often wants to progress
quickly, as if these lessons were unimportant. Actually, these lectures are the vital
preparation for the whole course. Do not rush, take your time. This is not a race.
Nonetheless, do not be idle.
Lesson 1
The average time for this lesson is one week. There are four short theoretical texts and one
practice.
T: Introduction to the theory and practice of magic
● Text 1: “Introduction” (CTC). Read page 1 and the first paragraph of page 2.
● Text 2: “What is magick?” (DMK). Read page 3 from “what is magick?” until the
penultimate paragraph of page 4.
● Text 3: “Why magick?” (LMD). Read pages 5 and 6.
● Text 4: “Foundations of practice” (JMG). Read pages 7 to 14, stop before
“elementary practices”. There are brief mentions to qabalistic theory in this text, just
ignore them for now.
P: Relaxation techniques
● Text 1: “Fourfold breath” (CTC). Read page 15, starting from the second paragraph
of the topic “meditation”. This exercise must be practiced daily until the end of the
course.
● Text 2: “The relaxation ritual” (DMK). If the student cannot relax using the fourfold
breath, read page 16 and practice this alternative technique.
Lesson 2
The average time for this lesson is one month, since the student should acquire some
proficiency in ritual practice before going on. The student must use this extra time to commit
to memory all the information about the tree of life in the second theoretical text.
T: Introduction to qabalah
● Text 1: “The Qabalah” (RW). Read from page 17 until page 27.
● Text 2: “The Tree of Life” (JMG). Read from page 28 until page 46. Don't read the
section “the geometry of being” on page 42.
P: Introduction to ritual
● Text: “Ritual magic” (JMG). Read from page 47 until before “opening the centers of
power” on page 56. Practice the lesser ritual of the pentagram twice a day for a
month before starting the next lesson. The best is to perform it in the morning and at
night. Do the fourfold breath practice as a preparation for the ritual. Contrary to the
text suggestion, perform only the banishing form of the ritual.
Lesson 3
The student must continue the daily practice of the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram
until the end of his/her training in this course. Beyond that, and the fourfold breath, the
student must do the daily recollection and choose to do, on a daily basis, the noon salutation
or the Berakah. The theory presented in this lesson is of utmost importance for the future
development of the magician. Therefore, spending a month studying and practicing before
advancing for the next lesson is highly recommended.
T: Basic magic concepts
● Text 1: “The first knowledge lecture” (CTC). Start in “section 1” on page 57 and read
until the description about Saturn on page 68.
● Text 2: “The Hebrew alphabet” (CTC). Read from page 69 until before the section
“the four worlds” on page 77.
● Text 3: “The paths upon the tree” (JMG). Read pages 78 to 86.
P: Elementary practices
● Text 1: “Elementary practices” (JMG). Read from “Elementary practices” on page 87
until page 89.
● Text 2: “The Berakah” (CTC). Read from “The Berakah” on page 90 until before “the
rite of elemental equilibration” on page 92. The expression “konx om pax” said in the
blessing means “light rushing out in one ray”. It was uttered at the Eleusinian
mysteries. Khabs am pekht is the Egyptian version of the same sentence, called “the
Mystical Words”.
NEOPHYTE
The average time for each of these lessons is one month. Some lectures may require more
time from you. Remember the advice from the first part. I have a new advice for you, an
alchemical adage: “Ora, Lege, Relege, Labora et Invenies” (Pray, Read, Read Again, Work
and You Shall Find).
Lesson 4
The daily recollection exercise is optional from this point on. The student must do the Middle
Pillar ritual daily until the end of this course.
T: The Sephirot
● Text: “The Spheres” (JMG). Read pages 93 to 187. There is no need to focus on
details like the angels associated with the Sephirot, tarot or other correspondences.
Treat this text as a reference to be re-read as you progress in your studies. However,
pay attention to the general description of the spheres and the names of God
correlated with them.
P: The Middle Pillar ritual
● Text: “Opening the centers of power” (JMG). Read from “Opening the centers of
power” on page 188 until 190.
Lesson 5
The circulation of the body of light is a fundamental complement to the Middle Pillar ritual
and must be done every day until the end of the course.
T: Macrocosm and microcosm
● Text 1: “Macrocosm and microcosm” (JMG). Read pages 191 to 208
● Text 2: “The parts of the soul” (CTC). Read from page 209 until before the section 9
on page 211.
● Text 3: “Polarities of being” (JMG). Read from page 212 until before “practical uses of
polarity” on page 220.
● Text 4: “The fifth knowledge lecture” (CTC). Read from page 221 until before the
section “the brazen sea” on page 231
P: Circulation of the body of light
● Text: “The circulation of the body of light” (DMK). Read the section “The circulation of
the body of light” on page 232 until the warning on page 233. The practice should be
done after the Middle Pillar ritual without the ending part (qabalistic cross). Perform
only the second and third parts, since the first part of this exercise is already
integrated in the complete Middle Pillar ritual studied in the previous lesson. Do not
finish the ritual with any kind of Tarot contemplation. Perform the qabalistic cross
instead.
Lesson 6
T: The Tarot
● Text: “Introduction to the Tarot” (RW). Read pages 234 to 368. Take your time to
grasp all the information given in this lesson. Treat this text as a reference material
for future consultations.
P: Tarot contemplation
● Text: “The Tarot contemplation ritual” (DMK). Read page 369. There is no need to
remove the six cards as indicated in the text. Perform the ritual with all the 22 Major
Arcana. Do this exercise daily for two months. If the student feels prepared for a
more advanced version of this practice, s/he should check the last paragraph of page
485.
Lesson 7
In the theoretical part, the text 1 is a reference that should be read and re-read as the
student progresses in his/her studies. The recommendation for beginners is to focus on text
2.
T: Minor Arcana and divination
● Text 1: “Patterns of the Sephiroth” (RW). Read pages 370 to 440.
● Text 2: “Divination” (RW). Read from “Divination” on page 441 to page 451
P: Divination methods
● Text: “Tarot divination” (CTC). Read from the text title on page 452 until before the
section “the fifteen card spread” on page 456. This method is not showed here since
it was discussed in the second theoretical text.
Lesson 8
Contrasting with the previous lessons, the course now gains an eminently practical
character. The student should not proceed to the next lesson before making the robe and
the altar and mastering the procedures taught here. The bell and the ring mentioned in the
texts are optional tools. The Tarot contemplation ritual is not mandatory anymore, but the
student must perform it whenever s/he feels appropriate.
T/P: Self-development techniques
● Text 1: “Meditation” (JMG). Read from page 457 until before “meditation - third stage”
on page 462. The first stage is a meditative application of the fourfold breath exercise
and must be done until you achieve the sensations described in the text. After that,
practice the second stage meditation for 40 days, that is, make four repetitions of the
entire meditative cycle, one per day. You may refer to the text “The Spheres” on
page 93.
● Text 2: “I.O.B.” (DMK). Read from the text title on page 463 until page 469. The text
mentions magical tools. Don't worry about that. What those tools are, and the way
they can be substituted are topics that will be dealt with in the third text. You must
learn the technique and actually perform the ritual at least once. After that, use it
whenever it can be useful.
● Text 3: “Magical tools” (DMK). Read pages 470 to 472.
● Text 4: “Basic tools” (KON). Read from “The robe” on page 473 until page 475. This
text offers a new perspective about the instructions presented in the text 3.
● Text 5: “Psychic attack” (DMK). Read from the section “part two” on page 476 until
the first paragraph of page 478. Master the technique and use it whenever it is
necessary.
Lesson 9
From now on, the Berakah practice is optional. The daily practice now includes two
repetitions of the LBRP, preceded by the fourfold breath, the Middle Pillar ritual together with
the circulation of the body of light and probably some practice of the second stage of
meditation. Two more activities will be added in this lesson, but that is the maximum time
that will be required from the student for daily practice. The student should not progress to
the next lesson before building the wand and mastering the new techniques.
T/P: Essential magical procedures
● Text 1: “The rite of elemental equilibration” (CTC). Read from the text title on page
479 until before the section “body awareness exercise” on page 480. Do this once a
day for a month. After that, the rite should be performed at least on a weekly basis.
● Text 2: “The hexagram ritual”. (DMK). Read from the first paragraph of page 481 until
page 489. Do not read the penultimate paragraph of page 485. The hexagram ritual
must be performed once a day until the end of the course. It is recommended to
perform the Middle Pillar ritual and the circulation of the Body of Light after the
morning LBRP, and the Hexagram ritual after the evening one.
● Text 3: “The magic wand” (KON). Read from page 490 until before the section “the
magic sword” on page 491. This wand substitutes the Lotus wand, the Rainbow
wand and other similar tools. The student can replace this tool by the Outer Wand of
double power, used in the Golden Dawn traditions: it is a simple dowel that is about
20 inches in length, half of it painted white (used for invocations and consecrations),
half of it painted black (for banishments).
Lesson 10
While performing an elemental invocation, the student must do the LBRP twice. For that
reason, just one more daily repetition of the ritual is necessary, followed by the BRH, the
Middle Pillar ritual and the circulation of the Body of Light (in that order). As usual, building
the tool described in this lesson is mandatory before progressing to the next one.
T/P: The element Earth
● Text 1: “An invocation of the element of Earth” (CTC). Read from the text title on
page 492 until before “Suggested reading” on page 494. This Golden Dawn
invocation is unnecessarily complex. It can, and should be simplified. The student
should not worry about special robes, talismans or temple arrangements. The Prayer
of the Gnomes is optional. Do not perform any meditations during this invocation.
The student will perform specific exercises instead of it. If the student wants to use
the Golden Dawn signs, illustrations of them can be found on page 558. The
Projection Sign (PS) is also known as the Sign of the Entered or the Sign of Horus.
● Text 2: “Earth exercises” (DMK). Read from page 495 until before the section “part
two” on page 497. There are four exercises in this text. Practice them following the
time schedule given in the text. Start any of those practices doing the Earth
invocation of the previous text, until the Reverse Circumambulation part. After the
exercise, perform the Reverse Circumambulation and finish the invocation.
● Text 3: “The Earth pentacle” (KON). Read from the text title on page 498 until page
500. Do not read the section “Elemental tablets” on page 499. There is another
example of an Earth pentacle, from DMK, on page 501.
● Text 4: “Magickal motto” (DMK). Read the last paragraph of page 502. The student
must choose a magical motto in this lesson, and can find an explanation and some
examples in this text.
Lesson 11
This lesson continues the elemental practice started in the previous study. The instructions
and recommendations formerly given apply to this and the next two lessons, with obvious
modifications, since they are all analogous.
T/P: The element Air
● Text 1: “An invocation of the element of Air” (CTC). Read from the text title on page
503 until before “Suggested reading” on page 505.
● Text 2: “Air exercises” (DMK). Read pages 506 to 508.

Lesson 14
The rite of elemental equilibration is optional from now on. Since the student is not required
to perform elemental rituals anymore, s/he must return to the previous routine, performing
the two LBRP. As usual, do not move to the next lesson before building the Elemental
tablets.
T: Spirit
● Text: “Correspondences of Spirit” (CTC). Read page 533 until before the section
“Neter”.
T/P: Spiritual practices
● Text 1: “The Rose Cross ritual” (DMK). Read from page 534 until before the section
“Part four” on page 541. Perform this ritual at least once a week for a month. After
that, perform it at least once a month until the end of the course.
● Text 2: “Prayer” (JMG). Read pages 542 to 547. Reserve a few minutes each day to
this practice, during a month. After that, do it whenever you want.
● Text 3: “Elemental tablets” (KON). Read from the text title on page 548 until page
551.
Lesson 15
It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the Watchtower ritual. Israel Regardie had the
opinion that the daily practice of this ritual would allow the prepared student to reach the
level of a true initiate, a magician who truly walks between the worlds. Since this practice
includes two repetitions of the LBRP and of the BRH, just do the LBRP one more time each
day, this time doing the Middle Pillar ritual and the circulation of the Body of Light.
P: Watchtower and consecrations
● Text 1: “The opening by the Watchtower” (KON). Read from the text title on page 552
until page 557. The prayer in the eighteenth step of the ritual is optional. Warning: for
some reason, there are two errors in the Enochian invocation in the step 13: “ad” and
“ado” must be written as “od” and “odo”. There are no errors in the pronunciation
sections. Spend some time to memorise this ritual, part by part. After that, perform it
every day until the end of the course.
● Text 2: “Consecration rituals” (KON). Read from page 559 until before the section
“Consecration ritual for the implements of the art” on page 571. The magic
wand/outer wand must be consecrated first. Do not perform more than one
consecration in the same day. It is highly recommended to respect the traditional
advice to do this kind of ritual during the waxing of the moon, that is, right after the
new moon until before the full moon. It is not necessary to have a magic sword. The
wand can be used in all steps of the weapons consecrations, and to perform the
LBRP (just remember to use the black end in the case of the outer wand). However,
if you want to use a magic sword or a magic dagger to perform the LBRP,
consecrated it before the elemental weapons. Some students have a doubt about the
correct pronunciation of these two names: “TALIAHAD” (page 566) and “ERZLA”
(page 569). The correct pronunciation is with a “L” in both cases: “TAH-LEE-AH-
HAHD” and “EH-RAH-ZOD-LAH”. There is no specific ritual to consecrated the
elemental tablets and the tablet of union. These tools are consecrated when used in
a proper Watchtower ritual.
● Text 3: “The ritual of magickal obligation” (DMK). Read from the text title on page 573
until page 574. To rightfully receive the title of Adeptus/Adepta, the student must
solemnly undertake the obligation to the magical path. Do this only after all your
weapons are consecrated, and only after at least one month of daily practice of the
Watchtower ritual. Read the obligation beforehand, and be sure you agree with it, for
the obligation must be sincere and with all your heart. Exclude the word
“minor/minora” of the obligation. Adeptus Minor is a grade name specific to the
Golden Dawn current, while Adeptus/Adepta is a title common to many magic
traditions.
ADEPTUS/ADEPTA
The average time for each of the following lessons is two months. However, it is harder to
set a period of time because the work undertaken by the Adept is more personal. One year
and a half studying and practicing these lectures is still reasonable. Remember the previous
mottos. I will give you one more: “Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum
Lapidem” (Visit the Interior of the Earth and Purifying You will Find the Hidden Stone).
Lesson 16
T: Talismans
The text 1 is the theoretical basis of this lesson. Text 2 expands and complements it. Texts 3
and 4 are short explanations about the Planetary entities
● Text 1: “Talismans” (TIR). Read pages 575 to 614.
● Text 2: “Talismans II” (DMK). Read from “Part four” on page 615 until page 633.
● Text 3: “The Planetary Hierarchies” (CTC). Read from page 634 until before the
section “The Zodiacal Hierarchies” on page 636.
● Text 4: “The Olympic Planetary spirits” (CTC). Read from the text title on page 637
until page 639.
P: Talisman consecration
● Text: “Talisman charging and consecration” (DMK). Read from “Part two” on page
640 until page 656. Do not read the section “The simple talisman charging and
consecration ritual” on page 646. The student must create and consecrate two
successful talismans before moving to the next lesson.
Lesson 17
T: Tattwas
● Text 1: “Introductory paper on the Tattwas” (IR2). Read from page 657 until before
the section “The tattwas of the Eastern school” on page 663. This text was chosen to
provide a theoretical foundation to the student. The practical methods described here
are optional and should not be tried until success in the exercise described in the
following text.
P: Tattwa visualisation
● Text 1: “Tattwa visualisation” (KON). Read from “Exercise set three” on page 664
until page 668. There are two exercises described in this text. The first one is a
preliminary step to the Tattwa visualisation. Do it only if you need support on
visualisation. In most cases, the Adept should start immediately the second exercise.
In that case, start reading from the third paragraph of page 665.
T: Skrying
● Text 2: “Skrying” (IR2). Read pages 669 to 689. This text describes three different
methods for skrying. It also talks about astral projection and the technique of rising in
the planes. Read the text as a theoretical basis. The actual practice was already
described in the previous text.The techniques for astral travel and to rise in the
planes will be taught later in this course. The hexagrams mentioned in the text can
be found on page 977.
P: Astral techniques
● Text 2: “Crystal skrying” (KON). Read from page 690 until before the section
“exercise set five” on page 691. This is an optional technique, included for the sake
of completeness.
● Text 3: “Astral techniques” (DMK). Read from page 692 until the second paragraph of
page 698. This text presents two different sets of techniques: astral rituals and astral
travel. Practice the Astral LBRP described on page 693 daily for a month. In the first
two weeks, perform also the physical version of the LBRP immediately after the
astral one. After that, do the physical version only if the astral technique is not
mastered yet. You can choose to perform other daily rituals astrally or physically,
until the end of the course. The techniques for astral travel must be tried after
success on Tattwa visualisation as described in the first practical text of this lesson.
You should not progress to the next lesson until obtaining success on astral travel.
Lesson 18
This lesson is focused on an advanced procedure called Pathworking, a method to rise in
the planes. The first two theoretical texts are essential for the verifications that need to be
done in this practice. The third theoretical text discusses the technique and provides
additional information for the procedure described in the practical part.

● Text 1: “The nature of entities” (KON). Read pages 699 to 711.
● Text 2: “Literal Qabalah” (CTC). Read from the text title on page 712 until page 716.
● Text 3: “Pathworking” (JMG). Read pages 717 to 729. The student may want to read
again the text on page 234.
P: Pathworking
● Text: “Pathworking practice” (DMK). Read pages 730 to 745. Perform the ritual twice
a week for two months. After that, the student should use his/her sensibility to
determine a program to pathwork, since this is a very personal project to be
undertaken by the Adept.
