CarolAtkinsonisSeniorLectureratManchesterMetropolitanUniversityBusiness
School(MMUBS) teaching on a wide range of human resource management
and organisational behaviour programmes. Her main research interests include
employmentrelationshipinsmallandmedium-sizedenterprises(SMEs)andshe
has practical experience as a human resource manager in the financial services,
retailandvoluntarysectors.
DrMarkBanksisalecturerintheDepartmentofSociologyatMMUandResearch
Fellow of the Manchester Institute for Popular Culture at MMU. His research
interestsareinthecreativeindustries,workandurbanculture.
Steve Baron took up the position of Professor of Marketing at the University of
LiverpoolManagementSchoolinJuly2002.HewasformerlyProfessorofServices
MarketingatMMUBS.Hisresearchisinthefieldsofretailandservicesmarketing.
Heisajointauthorofabookonservicesmarketingandhaspublishedwidelyin
arangeofmarketing,servicesmarketingandretailingjournals.
PascaledeBerrangerisaResearchFellowinBusinessInformationTechnologyat
MMUBS. Her research interests include the adoption and usage of information
andcommunicationtechnologies(ICTs)inSMEs,andtheroleofhigher-education
institutionsinsupportingthelearningneedsofSMEs.
Tony Berry is Professor in MMUBS and is editor of Leadership and Organisational
Development Journal. His research interests include risk, financial management,

Meg Elliott is senior lecturer in human resource management and her main
researchinterestsareorganisationlearningandtransformation,allianceworking
inthepublicsector,andorganisationchangeinterventions.
