The word list is the portion of the Philadelphia Manuscript chat has received the greatest
amount of scholarly attention. It contains a wealth ofi nformation about the Ch'olti'l anguage
and the Ch'olti' people. We have included English glosses to aid the interested reader with
understanding the, at times, archaic Spanish, as well as the Ch'olti'. Original manuscript pages
are indicated above the Spanish entry chat begins that manuscript page, and all blank pages in
the manuscript are noted.
