Preface
We are delighted to introduce the proceedings of the 11th edition of the European
Alliance for Innovation (EAI) International Conference on Cloud Computing
(CloudComp 2021). This conference brought together researchers, developers, and
practitioners around the world who are leveraging and developing cloud computing
technologies for efficient and intelligent computing in secure and smart environments
with distributed devices. The theme of CloudComp 2021 was “Cloud Computing for
SecureandSmartApplications”.
The technical program of CloudComp 2021 consisted of 17 papers, comprising
threereviewpapersand14originalresearchpapers,presentedatthemainconference
tracks.Theconferenceproceedingshasbeenorganizedintothreegeneralsectionsinthis
book: Data Analytics for Cloud Systems with Distributed Applications, Cloud
ArchitectureandChallengesinReal-WorldUse,andSecurityinCloud/EdgePlatforms.
In the first section, seven papers around the importance of intelligent computing,
efficientprocessing,andmachineleaning(specificallydeeplearning)withapplications
totraditionalanddistributedcloudsystemsarepresented.Inthesecondsection,there
arefivepaperswithaseriousfocusonarchitectureandchallengesofcloudsystemsfor
realizingcloud-basedservices.Andfinally,thelastsectionintroducesthefiveremaining
papers focused on different aspects of security for cloud- and internet of things
(IoT)-basedapplications.
WedeeplythankallofourTechnicalProgramCommitteemembersandreviewers
who helped us to organize the conference under the difficult circumstances of the
COVID-19pandemic.Also,thecontributionofourparticipantsishighlyappreciatedand
wehopetohaveallofthematthenextmeetingofCloudComp.Finally,agreatthanks
to all the EAI staff and managers for their constant support is needed. We strongly
believe that CloudComp 2021 provided a good forum for all researchers, developers,
