Abstract Anewolidspecies,Clssatoi,isdescribedfromPiTan,Thailand
ThisshortpaperisdesignedfordedicationtothememoryofthelateDr.Masataka
SAT0(1937-2006)whowasanexcellentcoleoptero1ogistandgreatlycontributedtothe
knowledgeoftheAsianColeoptera.
In thecourseof revising theAsian Ciidae, I found out an interestingspecies
belongingtothegenusCls,whichwascollectedbythelateDr.M. SAToinThailand.
Inthefollowinglines,thisnewspeciesisdescribedunderthenameofCissatoi,whose
specificepithet isgiveninhonorofhim.
Uptothepresent,twospecies,ClsaslatlcusLAWRENCE(1991)andRhopa1odontus
1awrenceiRuTA(2003),havebeenrecordedfromThailand,andthisnewspeciesseems
tobeathirdrepresentativeofthefamilyfromThailand.
The abbreviations employed in thispaper are thesameas thoseexplained in
previouspapersofmine.

Male(Holotype). Bodylength(excludinghead):2.05mm;greatestbreadthof
pronotum:1.15mm;greatestbreadthofelytra:1.12mm.
Bodyshortandstout,1.83timesaslongaselytra1breadth,verystronglyconvex,
shinyondorsum. Colordarkreddishbrown;head,antennalclubs,mandiblesandle9s
reddjshbrown;antennalfunicles,palpiandtarsiyellowishbrown.Puncturesondo「Sum
eachbearingaveryshort,fineandpalehairwhichisinconspicuousandhardlyvisible
under towmagnification (Xl0).
Head relatively exposed from pronotum, weakly convex; rather sparsely and
mjnutelypunctate;intersticesbetweenpuncturesfinelyshagreened;fronto-ClyPeal「id9e

Presternaldisc in frontofcoxaemedic-longitudinally carinate, transverselyand
deeplydepressedjustbeforeeachcoxa;presternalprocessrathernarrow,subpara11e1-
sided, somewhat broadened near apex. First abdominal sternite with a circular and
marginallypubescent foveaat themiddle.
Malegenitaliainaparatype: - Eighthabdominalsternitebroadlyandshallowly
emarginateatthemiddleofapex,bearinglonghairsatthelateralcornersandshorthairs
at thebottomoftheemargination. Tegmensomewhatstout,parallel-sided,bilobedat
apexandstronglyemarginateontheoutermarginofeachlobe,about0.43timesaslong
asthecombinedlengthofvisibleabdominalsternite.
Fem a1e. Fronto-clypea1ridgeslightly reflexedand formingarcuatesmall la-
mellaateachside; firstabdominalsternitedevoidofpubescent fovea.

Remarks. ThisnewspeciesisalliedtoCnikkoensisNoBucHI, l960,fromJapan
inthebodyshape,butinthelatterspecies,thefronto-clypea1projectionsinthemaleare
Smaller,andthepronotumandelytraaremuchnarrower (PL/PW≧0.82,EL/Ew≧
1.32).
Etymology. Thisspeciesisdedicated to thememoryof thelateDr. Masataka
SAT0whowasaleadingandeminentcoleoptero1ogsit inJapan.

川那部 真: タイ国で発見されたッツキノコムシ科の1新種c、lssatoi (コウチュウ目ツッキノ
コムシ科ツツキノコムシ亜科). - 佐藤正孝博士により, 1987年にタイのPiTanで採集され
たッッキノコムシ属の1種を記載し, これを2006年8月9日に69歳で亡くなった先生に捧げ
て, C.satoiM. KAwANABEと命名した.
この新種は,日本に分布するニツコウッツキノコムシCisnikkoenslsNoBucH1,1960に似ている
が, 雄の頭部突起がより大きく顕著に反り返ることや, 前胸と上翅の幅が広いことなどによって
容易に区別できる.
