ThisbookisconcernedwithcircuitsimulationusingNationalInstrumentsMultisim.Itfocuseson
theuseandcomprehensionoftheworkingtechniquesforelectricalandelectroniccircuitsimulation.
Thefirstchaptersaredevotedtobasiccircuitanalysis.Itstartsbydescribingindetailhowtoperform
a DC analysis using only resistors and independent and controlled sources. Then, it introduces
capacitorsandinductorstomakeatransientanalysis.Inthecaseoftransientanalysis,itispossible
tohaveaninitialconditioneitherinthecapacitorvoltageorintheinductorcurrent,orboth.Fourier
analysisisdiscussedinthecontextoftransientanalysis.Next,wemakeatreatmentofACanalysis
tosimulatethefrequencyresponseofacircuit.Then,weintroducediodes,transistors,andcircuits
composedbythemandperformDC,transient,andACanalyses.Thebookendswithsimulationof
digitalcircuits.
Apracticalapproachisfollowedthroughthechapters,usingstep-by-stepexamplestointro-
ducenewMultisimcircuitelements,tools,analyses,andvirtualinstrumentsformeasurement.The
examples are clearly commented and illustrated,and the different tools available on Multisim are
usedwhenappropriatesoreaderscanlearnwhenthey.Thisispartofthelearningoutcomesthat
shouldresultaftereachsetofend-of-chapterexercisesisworkedout.
