at Cornell University in the early 1980s. He has published four books and more

theAsiaPacificregion.
LU Xixi, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, National University of
Singapore,Singapore.HeobtainedhisPhDfromtheUniversityof Durham,and
wasanNSERCpost-doctoralfellowintheUniversityofWesternOntario,Canada.
As a trained geomorphologist, his research interests lie in the investigation of
soilerosion,sedimentdeliveryanddepositioninthelargeAsianriversincluding
the Yangtze River, the Pearl River, the Mekong River and the Irrawandy River
wherehehaddoneextensivefieldwork.Hisresearchhasbeenfundedbyvarious
