'hef our taxa of Centranthera previously known for Thailand include three which
have been found in northern Thailand，v iz. C. tranquebarica (Spreng.) Merr.，C .
cochinchinensis (Lour.) Meπ. ssp. cochinchinensis and ssp. lutea (Hara) Y創na.(YA MAZAKI，
1990).官官sethree taxa all have linear to lanceolate leaf blades which紅.e1.5-7 mmw ide，
calyces 3-15 mml ong dcorollas 1-4 cm long with only ssp. lutea being entirely

yellow.
Centranthera grandiflora Benth. has sessile，el liptic to oblong，pr ominently 3-nerved，
serrulate leaf blades 2-3 cm wide，c alyx c. 2.5 cm long，a nd entirely yellow corollas
4-4.5 cm long (Hoo悶 R，1884; HENG ETA L.，19 98). This corresponds with flowering and
fruiting material 1c ollected in af ire-damaged，m ostly open，g rassy place in degraded，
deciduous dipterocarp-oak +p ine forest 3k ms outh of Mae Wae (Karen) Village，Y ahng
Meun Subdistrict，S ameung District，Ch iang Mai Province on 2A ugust 2002 at 875 m on
shale bedrock (Maxwell 02-238).
Centranthera is recognized by its spathaceous calyx，su bequal corolla lobes; unequal，
basally acute to spruued anther locules; and filaments which 'epilose in the upper part.

Centranthera grandiflora is easily distinguished by its 3nervedleaf blades and c. 4c m
・
long yellow corollas. This species，ac cording to Hooker (1884)，is known from Sikkim and
the Khasia Mountains in NEI ndia (Assam)仕omc. 325 to 1700 m elevation. It is also
known仕omsouthern China (c. 800 m)，B hutan，M yanmar，a nd Vietnam (HONG ETA L.，
1998).
