“What I think is a significant factor
going on is the change in the grand
list that contributes to the increase in
the mil rate,” said Jolin. “That affects
the mil rate independent of any budget
increase so it is a factor.”
Jolin said that further cuts to the
education spending plan would be “dev-
astating” if the budget fails a third time,

Audubon Center hosts 16th Owl Garden Party
POMFRET CENTER — The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Center at Pomfret
held its 16th Annual Owl Garden Party on June 18. The fundraiser featured locally

event. Representatives from Horizon Wings Raptor Rehabilitation and Education
Center in Ashford brought their magnificent live birds of prey for patrons to view
