Welcome to the R1Soft – CDP Enterprise Edition Admin Guide
The purpose of this manual is to provide you with complete instructions on how to use your
R1Soft - CDP Enterprise Edition - software.
Note
CDP comes in three (3) Editions: Standard, Advanced and Enterprise. This Guide
describes the Enterprise Edition only.
To find a specific topic on a particular section, click on the topic name in the Table of Contents
which is located on the left of every page.
Note

About Enterprise Edition
Enterprise Edition is Affordable High Performance Disk to Disk Backup Software for Linux and
Windows servers.
CDP Enterprise Edition has all the features of Standard Edition, plus it allows you to:
Backup many Agents.
Manage multiple users and their privileges.
Define Disk Quotas and SLA.
Fulfill Bare-Metal Restore.
Use full API.
CDP 3.0 allows you to store your Disk Safes on:
Primary hard disks - The Disk Safes are automatically excluded from the replication.
Secondary (backup) hard disks
USB drives
Network Attached Storages (NAS), e.g. NFS, CIFS/Windows share, etc.
With Enterprise Edition you can:
Select Devices on Host for replication.
Define what files/folders on Device will be replicated. By default, all files and folders on the
selected Device are backed up. You can exclude file(s)/folder(s) and define complex
exclude rules.
Create one-time or scheduled replication.
Define disk space soft and hard quotas.
Assign one (1) or several Data Protection Policies to a Host.
Define Recovery Point Retention for each Policy.
Browse files on Disk Safes.
Track Disk Safe with built-in, on-disk journaling.
Merge (delete) Recovery Points.
Restore all or selected files/folders from any Recovery Point.
Export the selected files/folders from any Recovery Point. You can save the extracted
files/folders to an off-site server or local hard disk.
Copy Disk Safes between CDP installations. Disk Safes can be moved and copied like
regular folders.
Enterprise Edition includes:
MySQL support.
Bare-Metal Restore function.
Reports via email.
Windows NTFS DACLs and SACLs Restore (allows you to restore Discretionary and
System Access Control Lists).
Advanced Archiving Rules with flexible Data Protection Policies.
Recovery Point Archiving for 3.0 (In CDP 2.0, you create multiple backup schedules).

Configuring CDP Server
About Linux CDP Server Configuration
You, as an Administrator, must define the server-wide settings that are important for CDP Server
to work.
To configure your Linux CDP Server, you can use:

About Windows CDP Configuration Utility
The Windows CDP Configuration Utility is a separate application installed together with the CDP
Server Standard, Advanced, or Enterprise Edition.

Note
CDP Standard and Advanced Editions go with CDP Server that is already built-in.
Use Windows CDP Configuration Utility to configure both CDP Server and CDP
Agent. As for Enterprise Edition, CDP Configuration Utility is available on the
machine with CDP Server installed. On the machine where CDP Agent is installed,
use Windows CDP Agent Configuration Utility.
The Windows CDP Configuration Utility allows you to complete the tasks described in the
following documents:
Restarting CDP Server -
Instructions on how to restart the Linux and Windows CDP Server Standard and Enterprise
Editions.
Setting CDP Server Users -
Instructions on how to reset user password or create a new CDP Server user using the
Windows CDP Configuration Utility.
Configuring CDP Server "Run Service As" Account -
Instructions on how to configure CDP Server "Run Service As" account.
Configuring CDP Server Ports -
Instructions on how to configure CDP Server Ports using the Windows CDP Configuration
Utility.
Configuring Heap Memory -
Instructions on how to set up heap space memory in Linux and Windows CDP. Default
Heap Memory values.
In Standard and Advanced Edition, the Windows CDP Configuration Utility also allows you to
configure CDP Agent as it is installed on the same machine as CDP Server. See more in the

Accessing CDP Configuration Utility
Follow the instructions below to access the Windows CDP Configuration Utility.
Note
For Enterprise Edition, CDP Configuration Utility is available on the machine with
CDP Server installed. On the machine where CDP Agent is installed, use Windows
CDP Agent Configuration Utility.
Go to Start (All) Programs R1Soft CDP Backup CDP Configuration Utility.
The Configuration Utility will start.

Accessing Configuration in CDP Server
Follow the instructions below to access the Configuration in your CDP Server Standard Edition.
Click on "Configuration" in the Main Menu to open the "Configuration" window.
