We made it to sixteen years! We
aren’t looking for a car, though,.,
or a limo drive to a banquet
hall...or a pretty dress. We
figured instead we’d run the most
memorable, unique and action-
packed furry summer camp ever.
It’s our sweet sixteen, ya hosers!
I was at the first Camp Ferali
held here at Camp Arowhon i.
1998. I remember a lot fewe
re about 5
total!) and being WAY too shy
I was in a cabin with people l\
never met, showed up at the em
of the first meal after driving
from Toronto, and wonderim
‘What...am...I...doing??’
imp really started.
I made new friends, was constantly
doing activities and workshops and
events, was invited to a few cabin
parties (like room parties...but with
more loon calls) and fell in love with
this crazy convention in the woods.
Keep 98 there weren’t
many options. Albany Anthrocon
had just held it’s first event when
Cam 3$ conceived.
California had some cons,..and
I’d heard about this ‘Eurofurence’
overseasJ -rwise we
had local e luelph
Furry Bref nal
gatherings at the Hutch or Terry
Wessner’s house...and that was it.
The fact that Toronto Furries put
together the world’s first outdoor
furry event, the first Canadian
furry con, and did so without even
thinking about how crazy the
whole idea was is mindblowing!
And here we are, sixteen years
later, still rockin’ Alg n.
