OrderingInformation
Place orders by mail, fax, Internetwebsite ortelephone. To assist us in providing you timely and accurate service, orders
should include the following information:
1 "Bill To" Name & Address.
2. "Ship To" Name & Address (if different from Bill To).
3. LRDC Product Order Number (PON), producttitle, and quantity ofthe product required.
4. Method of Payment: Authorized Purchase Order; Credit Card (Visa/Mastercard); cheque or money-order.
5. Shipping Methods: LRDC prepays and determines the most efficient, cost effective shipping method appropriate to
the size of shipment at"no extra"charge within Alberta only.
Additionalshipping/handling charges are applicable to:
• Customer"specified" instructions
• Out of Alberta deliveries; shipping/handling rates estimated at $5.00 plus 2.5% oftotal ordervalue.
Prices
Prices quoted are "gross" selling prices and do not include applicable credit allocation (LRCA) or the 7% GST (refer to
page GI-7). Prices are in effect until March 31, 1999, unless exceptional circumstances warrant otherwise.
TermsofPayment
Terms are net 30 days for LRDC Charge Account Customers; personal orders from individuals, including teachers, will be
accepted on a prepaid basis onlyvia credit card (Visa/Mastercard), cheque or moneyorder.
Inspection. DeliveryandReturns
Carefully check your shipment immediately upon receipt of the order and accompanying pick/pack slip (PPS). Ensure
order has been filled properly before stamping or marking since marked or used products are not returnable. Immediately
report any discrepancies to CustomerService & Marketing; claims reported after 14 days may be denied.
Howto Return Productto LRDC
a) Complete the LRDC Customer Returns form (page GI-17), describe the reason for return, giving the pick/pack
slip number and/or invoice number.
b) To expedite the credit process, contact our Customer Service & Marketing Unit for shipping instructions and
Returns Material Authorization (RMA) number.
NOTE
• Damaged or defective resources will be replaced immediately upon notification.
• Surplus stock or incorrectly ordered returns may be considered for return up to three months from date of
receipt from LRDC. You will be charged a finance and restocking fee of up to 15%.
Year End(March 31) Order Filling andPricing
To ensure that a customer order is shipped prior to March 31, 1999, and invoiced at the LRDC 1998-99 selling price, the
LRDC must receive the order no later than March 20, 1999. Any product placed on backorder and shipped after March
31, 1999 will be invoiced at the NEW 1999-2000 selling price.

• 1) PurposeandUse The Alberta Education Learning Resources Distributing Centre (LRDC) Buyers Guide provides a
ofLRDCBuyers product listing of (1) all Alberta Education authorized learning resources and (2) extra learning
Guide resourcesthat are carried bythe LRDC based upon customer need and demand.
It is the only Alberta Education document that identifies all Alberta Education authorized, approved
and/or developed learning resourcesfor use in deliveringthe Albertacurriculum.
Accessibility, The Buyers Guide provides important information about the accessibility, availability and affordability
Availability& of (a) learning resources that should be used to meet learner and curricular expectations as defined in
Affordabilityof the Alberta Course of Studies and (b) also "high demand" learning products that teachers, students

3) Learning a) Purpose
ResourcesCredit
Allocation(LRCA) The Learning Resources Credit Allocation (LRCA):
Purpose Assists eligible Alberta school authorities provide educational programming and enhance
learning of Alberta Grades 1 to 12 students, by subsidizing up to 25% of the cost of learning
resources to acredit dollar amount maximum for resources carried by and purchased fromthe
LRDC.
b) OperatingPrinciples
Operating Principles • School authorities eligible to receive the LRCAare:
=> All school authorities receiving ASFFperpupil instructional grant;
=> Accredited Private Schools under Section 22(2) ofthe School Act; and
=> BandOperated and Federal Government Administered Indian Schools
• Eligible School Authorities receive $9.30 per grade 1 to 12 students, (as of September 30,
1997) credit at the LRDC for the purchase of any learning resource carried by the LRDC,
unless otherwise noted.
c) OperatingProcedures
•
Operating • The 1998-99 credit ends March 31, 1999.
Procedures
• The LRCA will automaticallybe applied to the list selling price of any product atthe time of
invoicing until the full credit amount is used by the school authority or unless the purchase
order requeststhatthe LRCA not be accessedforthe order.

NOTE: All LRDC invoices will identify the (a) amount of LRCA used and (B) amount
remaining, byschoolandschoolauthority.
• The LRDC will record and report LRCA purchases by individual school, on behalf of the
school authority, only if requested by completing and returning Section I of Appendix B of the
LRCA information package to the LRDC.
NOTE: Purchase orders mustidentifythe school.
• Thefull list selling price will becharged once the credit amount isfully used.
4) Distributionofthe a) PrintVersion
PrintBuyersGuide
andSupplements Each April a new print Buyers Guide is distributed to each School Authority Central Office for
further distribution to their individual schools. The print Buyers Guide is split into three

divisions for the English edition (Elementary, Junior High and Senior High versions) and
Distribution Basis
one complete listing for French. With the increased accessibility of the LRDC Buyers Guide on
Internet, the 1998-99 distribution ratio is based on one insert per school's grade designations and
the same for Central Office use. Schools that may have no formal Central Office such as Private
Schools, receive one copy. The 1998-99 Buyers Guide is listed for sale in the General Learning
Resources section.
The LRDC hopesto eliminatethe print Buyers Guide soon by having all customers access product
information and orderingthrough its Internet site.
b) ConsolidatedSupplements
Consolidated The LRDC will continue to provide print Buyers Guide Supplements in 1998-99, listing new
Supplements authorized resources since the issue of the annual Buyers Guide. Our goal is to reduce the
number of supplements to one ortwo peryear. When Supplements are received, you can recycle
old Supplements and insert the "new" Supplement document after its corresponding tab. This
format ensures customers will have to look in no more than two Buyers Guide documents to
identify products they wantto purchase.
c) FrenchLanguage InstructionEditionBuyersGuide
French Language The French Language Instruction Edition Buyers Guide lists authorized products for Francophone
IBnusyterrucstiGouniEddeition and Immersion instruction. We send it to schools/school jurisdictions who offer French pursuant
to Sections 5 and 6 of the Alberta School Act (1988). Extra copies are available for purchase -
see General Learning Resource section.
5) KeyFeaturesof a) Product listings are organized in alphabetical order throughout, first by program/course
OurBuyersGuide area, grade/level, series (ifapplicable) andthen byproduct name.
b) Alberta Education authorization designations are identified in the authorization status column.
The authorization designations that have official authorized status with the department are Student
Basic, Student Support and Authorized Teaching.
c) Most sections have their own individually numbered pages,

d) Authorized Student Support learning resources not stocked for sale by the LRDC are listed as
"VENDOR DIRECT. Please orderdirectlyfromthe publisher. Referto our Publisher Index section

e) Authorized Resources which are "no longer available"fromsource are listed as "OUTOF PRINT."
f) New learning resources authorized and available since the 1997-98 Buyers Guide edition are
identified by"New" in product listings. •
Western Canadian Protocol resources are identified by "WCP" and Pan-Canadian resources are
identified by"PCS".
