1) This study experimentally tested the effects of TV commercials using less thin models versus thin models on young women's mood, body image, and food intake. 2) 110 young women watched a movie interrupted by commercial breaks containing real commercials using either less thin models or thin models. 3) Women reported a more negative mood and ate less after exposure to commercials using less thin models compared to commercials using thin models. Exposure to different commercials had no effect on body image.
