The event was held at Curtin University, Singapore, and was organized by the Nanjing Institute of Technology, Oulu University, King Saud University, Curtin University, JiangSu Computer Society, Nanjing University of Posts andTelecommunications,andIEEEBroadcastTechnologySociety. The International Conference on Big Data and Security brings experts and researcherstogetherfromallovertheworldtodiscussthecurrentstatusof,andpoten- tial ways to address, security and privacy regarding the use of Big Data systems. Big Datasystemsarecomplexandheterogeneous;duetotheirextraordinaryscaleandthe integrationofdifferenttechnologies,newsecurityandprivacyissuesareintroducedthat mustbeproperlyaddressed.Theongoingdigitalizationofthebusinessworldisputting companiesandusersatriskofcyber-attacksmorethaneverbefore.BigDataanalysis has the potential to offer protection against these attacks. Participation in the confer- enceworkshopsonspecifictopicsisexpectedtoachieveprogressbyfacilitatingglobal networkingalongwiththetransferandexchangeofideas.
