The United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for the Republic of Belarus for 2011-2015 is the first joint strategy of the UN
organizationsactinginBelarus.ThisUNDAFhasbeenpreparedbytheUnitedNationsCountryTeaminBelarusinconsultationwiththeGovernmentof
theRepublicofBelarusandothernationalandinternationalpartners,withtheaimofimprovingthelivesofthepeopleofBelarus.
TheUNDAFfocusesonfivestrategicareaswithinthemandateoftheUNinordertomosteffectivelyrespondtokeynationalpriorities.Theseareaswill
setthedirectionandscopeofactionoftheUNdevelopmentassistancetoBelarusoverthenextfiveyears:
—1.Sustainablesocialandeconomicdevelopment;
—2.Nationalhealthcaresystem;
—3.Environmentalsustainability;
—4.Nationalmigrationmanagementinlinewithinternationalstandards;and
—5.Nationalgovernancesystem.
TheUNDAFsupportstheachievementoftheMillenniumDevelopmentGoalsanditissymbolicthattheperiodcoveredbytheUNDAFcoincideswiththe
remainingtimeframeforachievingtheMDGs.WhilemostoftheMDGshavealreadybeenachievedinBelarus,moreattentionshouldnowbegivento
furtherenhancethequalityoftheresultsandsustainabilityofthecountryprogress.Bothmenandwomen,theruralandurbanpopulationshouldequally
benefitfromthesuccessfulrealizationoftheUNDAF.Thiswillrequiremoreintensivedialogueandinteractionbetweenthegovernmentandalllayersof
thesociety.
TheGovernmentoftheRepublicofBelarusandtheUNagenciesendorsetheUNDAFandunderscoretheirjointcommitmenttothefulfilmentofitsgoals.
