American named RobertKoke is credited with
introducing the sportto Bali in the late 1930s.

outside Ubud,was designed along the lines of a
Balinese village.The open-air lobby was designed
after a village meeting place,or wantilan.
Back endpaper:Warriors and brutish attendants
march across a painted panel atthe Hall of Justice,
Klungkung.Vivid ceiling paintings show scenes
from Heaven and Hell,symbolic of the rewards and
punishments awaiting defendants.This was the
highestcourtin the land during the 18th century.
