Un viaggio impossibile a bordo di un veliero, in condizioni precarie, che non si è mai allontanato da terra da oltre vent’anni.</p><p>Le vicende della <em>Deutschland</em> sono il filo conduttore di questo romanzo, e sono destinate ad incrociarsi con quelle di un guardiamarina della Royal Navy in licenza diretto a casa, di un asso degli U-boot in partenza da una Brest circondata per una missione temeraria e di un pilota della Lufwaffe impegnato nella ricognizione sull’Atlantico. Sullo sfondo, come in molti romanzi, il mare, imprevedibile e, a volte, ostile, in grado di prevalere sulla volontà degli uomini che, di fronte alla sua minaccia, si uniscono in uno sforzo comune, dimenticando di appartenere a schieramenti opposti. Un romanzo in cui, naturalmente, si tifa per la lepre e non mancano i colpi di scena.</p>
