211 Bernice Laschinger had many years of experience in community
1 mental health prior to becoming an attachment-based psychoana-
2 lytic psychotherapist. She is a member of CAPP, where she is a
3 training therapist, teacher, and supervisor and has been very
4 involved in the development of CAPP’s training curriculum, par-
5 ticularly with the integration of the relational model of psycho-
6 analysis into the course.

8 Chris Purnelltrained as a psychotherapist with CAPP. He currently
9 works in the NHS and maintains a small private practice. His
30 particular interest is in working with trauma using an attachment
1 perspective, and he has extensive experience in working with
2 people who are facing life-threatening illness as well as with adult
3 survivors of childhood sexual abuse. He is developing group
4 psychotherapy within the NHS for refugees and asylum seekers
5 who are suffering from the enduring traumatic effects of imprison-
6 ment, torture, and forced separation from their secure base. Chris
7 has presented papers on his work at national and international
8 conferences, and has published several papers in journals and
911 books.

111 Joanna Ryan, PhD, is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, supervisor,
2 and researcher. She trained at the Philadelphia Association and is
3 currently a member of The Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.
4 She has worked in voluntary organizations and in private practice.
5 She is co-author (with Noreen O’Connor) of Wild Desires and
6 Mistaken Identities: Lesbianism and Psychoanalysis (reprinted by
7 Karnac in 2003), and the author of The Politics of Mental Handicap
8 (Free Association Books), as well as many other publications. She is
9 currently conducting a research project on social class and psycho-
10 therapy.

2 Joseph Schwartz, PhD, is a training therapist and supervisor at
3 CAPP. Originally trained as an experimental particle physicist, he
4 worked for fifteen years in mental health research before becoming
5 a clinician. His latest book is Cassandra’s Daughter: A History of
6 Psychoanalysis in Europe and America(2003), London: Karnac.

8 Kate White is a training therapist, supervisor, and teacher at the
9 Centre for Attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. For-
20 merly senior lecturer at South Bank University in the Department
1 of Nursing and Community Health Studies, she has used her exten-
2 sive experience in adult education to contribute to the innovative
3 psychotherapy curriculum developed at CAPP. In addition to
4 working as an individual psychotherapist, Kate runs workshops on
511 the themes of attachment and trauma in clinical practice. One of her
6 particular interests is in sibling relationships.

8 Rachel Wingfield has been Chair of CAPP since 2001. She trained
9 at CAPPand is a training therapist, teacher, and supervisor. She has
311 experience in a wide range of clinical settings, including within
1 institutions and the voluntary sector, and currently works as a psy-
2 chotherapist in private practice, as well as in prisons. Rachel has a
3 particular interest in working clinically with issues of sexuality,
4 violence, and abuse.

6 Judy Yellin is a registered member of the Centre for Attachment-
7 based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, where she is a member of the
8 teaching staff. She also has a legal background and provides train-
911 ing on the interface between psychotherapy, counselling, and the

111 law. Judy has a particular interest in questions of attachment, sexu-
2 ality, and gender and working with lesbians, gay men, and trans-
