Sie waren entscheidend fur die grosse, aber erst ansatzweise erforschte Wirkung Georges auf die deutsche Literatur, auf die Politik und auf die Universitaten. Im Unterschied zu fruheren Interpretationen wird in dieser Arbeit, nach einer Ubersicht uber Tendenzen und Dispositionen zum Rituellen um 1900 und besonders in der franzosischen Moderne, das Katholische im Werk Georges starker betont. Georges Rituale der Literatur nutzen intensiv das asthetische Potential des katholischen Kultus.
