Preface
Thesearetheproceedingsofthe9theditionoftheInternationalWorkshopontheArith-
metic of Finite Fields (WAIFI 2022). The conference should have taken place in the
beautiful city of Chengdu (China) from August 29 to September 2, 2022. However,
because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the related situation in China, it finally took
placeonlineonthesamedates.
WeareverygratefultotheProgramCommitteemembersandtheexternalreviewers
fortheirhardandprofessionalwork!Theconferencereceived25submissions,ofwhich
19 contributed papers were finally selected for presentation after a single-blind peer
review.Eachpaperwasrefereedbyatleasttworeviewers.Allfinaldecisionsweretaken
onlyafteraclearpositioncouldbeclarifiedthroughadditionalreviewsandcomments.
TheOrganizingCommitteealsoinvitedLilyaBudaghyan,CunshengDing,andSyl-
vainDuquesnetospeakontopicsoftheirchoice,andwethankthemforhavingaccepted!
