The present study is a revised version of my Habilitationsschrift (Philos-
ophy Department, Ludwig Maximilians University Munich, 2004). It
owes much to the many people who have played a part in its coming
to be. In seminars in which the texts were discussed, several students

and Thomas Brunotte. The referees for my habilitation, Thomas Buch-
