Ladies and gentleman
“Plans for the future. Architectural drawings and models of the new Warsaw investments” exhibition has
already many years’ tradition. Structures presented at the exhibition will become soon an integral part of the
urban tissue, but before it will happen, today we can see how Warsaw will look in the near future.
And much will change. Never before Warsaw have shown such agenerous offer as this year. City’s
investments can daringly compete with private investors offer. We are proposing to develop important places
for Warsaw – Defilad Square, Pi∏sudskiego Square and rebuilding ofthe Legia Sport Club stadium as aNational
Stadium.
There is no other city in Europe like Warsaw that could have better offer for investors – almost 30 hectares
of the free space in the heart of the city and designing from the foundation the new Warsaw’s downtown.
It is atrue challenge for the architects and town-planners. We want new Warsaw center to become aworthy
visit-card of the capital of Poland.
Saski and Brühla palaces reconstruction is our conscious reference to Warsaw architecture tradition.
We want rebuilt structures to become our answer to the Pilsudski Square commercial management ideas,
aplace that is so important for Polish national identity.
Ambitious intentions, substantial plans. I am aware that my successors and all of the city residents will
confront our today’s plans with reality in near future. I believe that thanks to our efforts Warsaw will soon change
its look and Warsaw residents will be proud of their city.

“Plans for the Future. Architectural Drawings and Models of the New Warsaw Investments” exhibition
became avery important design presentation forum and also aplace where architects, investors, city authorities,
and Warsaw residents can meet.
We are promoting architecture as an evidence of our city development and of our culture by showing how
important architecture is. Warsaw has changed alot in last years – every year there is more and more new
investments. And our exhibition is also changing. Nine years ago it was more inconspicuous. Later it became
reach in new ideas – new sections were created. And so we had shown president’s Starzyƒski timeless visions,
spatial management plans, streets schemes, metro stations, communicational solutions, and restoration of
the old Praga district. And this year we are presenting completely new section – Detached Houses.
In this catalogue of exhibition we are also presenting works of the laureates of the last year, first edition
of the “MINE FILLING” competition, which was organized for the students of the Architecture Faculty of the
Warsaw Technology Institute. The subject of the competition was to design development of the junction at
the confluence of the Chmielna, Krucza and Bracka Streets next to Jab∏kowscy Brothers Department Store.
Next year we will surely present works of the laureates of this year “MARSZA¸KOWSKA FROM METRO”
student competition, which subject is to design the development of the quarter between Marsza∏kowska,
Âwi´tokrzyska, Zielna and Królewska Streets.
So there is and there will be many interesting designs to be seen – more than 90 new designs this year. I
invite in my name, and in the name of the whole team preparing the exhibition.

Designing “Reduta” building adaptation one has
to take into consideration many aspects of
history and culture. First – out of respect for
history the building should be treated with care.
REDUTA OFFICE PARK – first stage
Polski Bank building was built in 1907 and it is
asymbol of strong Polish state and of
independent Polish banking system between the
two World Wars. The second element involves
dramatic fate of Warsaw Uprising and Reduta’s
defenders. And last but not least there is
aquestion of preserving pre-war Warsaw
architecture. Design’s general assumption is to
increase building’s value by creating the top
suitable for elegant base. Thanks to this Reduta
will be not just “simple” office building.
