Preface
The present volume contains selected papers from the 2014 AASRI International Conference on Applied
Engineering Sciences (ICAES 2014) held on July 23–24, 2014, Hollywood (Los Angeles), CA, USA. The
conferenceisorganizedandco-organizedbyInformationEngineeringResearchInstitute.
ICAES 2014 will be the most comprehensive conference focused on the various aspects of advances in
AppliedEngineeringSciences.Ourconferenceprovidesachanceforacademicandindustryprofessionalsto
discuss recent progress in the area ofApplied Engineering Sciences.The goal of this conference is to bring
togetherresearchersfromacademiaandindustryaswellaspractitionerstoshareideas,problemsandsolutions
relatingtothemultifacetedaspectsofAppliedEngineeringSciences.
AdvancesinEngineering&AppliedSciencevolume1presentsaselectionof35papersfromover80papers
submitted to the conference from universities and industry.The selected, peer reviewed paper from ICAES
2014 focus on four topics: (1) Computer and Information Sciences, (2) Fundamental andApplied Sciences,
(3)MaterialScienceandMechanicalEngineeringand(4)ManagementScienceandEngineering.Somepapers
were highly evaluated by the scientific committees and the reviewers. For example, “Phytosterols and Fatty

ICAES2014wasbothstimulatingandinformativewithaninterestingarrayofkeynoteandinvitedspeakers
fromallovertheworld.Delegateshadawiderangeofsessionstochoosefrom.Theprogramconsistedofinvited
sessions,technicalworkshopsanddiscussionswitheminentspeakerscoveringawiderangeoftopics.Thisrich
programprovidedallattendeeswiththeopportunitytomeetandinteractwithoneanother.Thevolumepresents
toreaderstherecentadvancesinthefieldofAppliedEngineeringSciences.Itisthereforevaluabletoproduction
andresearchengineers,researchstudentsandacademicsinthefield.
