In Memoriam
NORMAN E. ROBBINS
M
Norman E. “Robby” Robbins, 82, of Fayetteville, PA, died on Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Village of 
Laurel Run, Adams County. Born on October 30, 1928 in Copan, OK, he was a son of the late William  e
E. Robbins and Gertrude Ruby Garrison Robbins. He was the widower of Thea Lindner Robbins, who 
m
preceded him in death in August of 2001.
An alumnus of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Norm graduated from polygraph school in  b
September 1961, and retired a warrant officer and polygraph examiner with the U.S. Army Criminal 
e
Investigation Division.  After military service, he became a U.S. Postal Inspector in Washington, DC, 
ultimately becoming the USPIS Polygraph Program Manager. Norman was a former member of the 
r
National Association of Retired Postal Inspectors and the American Polygraph Association.

Surviving are two sons, Norman E. “Butch” Robbins Jr. (and wife, Pamela) of Lincoln, NE and Ervin L. 
Robbins of Omaha, NE; a sister, Anna V. Slinkard (and husband, Danny) of Coffeyville, KS; sister-in- i
law, Carol Robbins of Bartlesville, OK; four grandchildren; Kimberly Minchew, Will, Jessica and David  p
Robbins and four great grandchildren; Logan and Camden Minchew, Kurt Taylor, and Blake Layton. 
 
Aside from his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Leonard L., a son, Leonard, and a grandson,

Erich L. Robbins.

A memorial service was held on January 20, 2011 in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and 
Cremation Center, with Pastor Kenneth R.W. Reid officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions  w
may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202; 
or to a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.geiselfuneralhome.com.

RICHARD W. INMAN
It is with great sadness that the APA announces the passing of  RICHARD W. INMAN on February 18, 
2011, Tierra Verde, Florida, at the age of 82.
He was a Charter member of the APA.
His father owned Associated Research, Inc., (which is now known as Stoelting.)  His father died during 
1960, at which time, Richard W. Inman became President of Associated Research, Inc.
JOHN J. CARRUTHERS
The APA regrets to inform its members of the passing of JOHN J. CARRUTHERS on March 12, 2011.  
He was 71 years of age.  
He had been an APA member since May 16, 1985.
Mr. Carruthers graduated from the Southwest School of Polygraph, Houston, Texas on July 20, 1977.  
He was retired from the Texas Department of Corrections in Huntsville, Texas.

  The 2011 elections will be conducted via electronic voting, as determined by 
membership  at  the  2010  American  Polygraph  Association  (APA)  Seminar. 
s According the APA By-Laws (updated through September 18, 2010), “Any member qualified under Division 
w V of the By Laws to hold APA elected office may have his or her name appear on the ballot if nominated by 
at least one voting member of the Association. A voting member may self-nominate.” Nominations and self-
e nominations must be sent to the APA National Office or via email to the National Office Manager Robbie 
Bennett at: [email protected]. Any form of written communication (e.g., electronic, facsimile, etc.) is

acceptable, provided the communication can be authenticated, if necessary, as that of a voting member. The

e in which they seek election. The statement will be attached to the electronic ballot. The dates for the electronic 
elections are as follow:

June 1, 2011  The electronic ballot will open. The ballot will remain open for seven calendar days. 
Please note that your login will be your last name and your password will be your 
membership ID number.
Your membership number is provided on the mailing label of this magazine.
June 7, 2011  The electronic ballot will close. 
Instructions regarding accessing the ballot will be sent to you via email the week prior to the ballot opening. 
This email will also include the website link you will need to visit in order to access the electronic ballot. Do not 
delete this email. If you do not have an email address on file with the APA National Office you will not receive 
this message. Please contact Robbie Bennett at [email protected] or by phone at (800) 272-8037 if your 
email address is not on file. Though you do not need an email address to vote, your email address will be used 
for correspondence and instructions regarding the voting process.
 
The candidates will be notified within 48 hours of the close of the election. The results will then be published 
on both the public and private portion of the website. The vote count will only be published on the private 
portion of the website. If no candidate for a given office wins 50% of the vote for the office, a runoff election will 
be conducted two weeks after the close of the first ballot. The dates for the runoff election, if necessary, will be:
 
June 21, 2011  The electronic ballot will open. The ballot will remain open for seven calendar days.
 
June 27, 2011  The electronic ballot will close. The same procedures for notification will be followed 
as describes above for the initial ballot.
