Activities Council to hear

The year 2010 brings with it big changes for the Activities
Council meetings. The council will now meet on the third Tues-
day of the month in the Fireside Room at Gateway.
President John Nutley has announced plans for the new year,
beginning with a presentation and some samplings from the cater-
ers who serve Rossmoor’s many clubs.
At the next meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 9:30 a.m., the ca-
terers will talk for five minutes each about their companies, what
they have to offer and will provide food samples. They will stay
after the meeting to talk one-on-one with residents and answer
questions.
Attendees will learn about the minimum and maximum num-
bers of people served at an event, cost of sit-down service or caf-
eteria presentation. Cost differences among the various entrees
choices and special individual exceptions, such as vegetarian
requests, will be addressed.
It would be helpful if the people in the clubs that are responsible
for decisions in these matters could attend this meeting, as well as
the regular representatives. Some samples will be available.
The Activities Council is made up of a club president and an
additional person representing each club.

The AARP Driver Safety Program classes are offered in

help them learn the latest laws when it comes to the road.
After taking the course, many residents are eligible to re-

The eight-hour course is broken up into two sessions. Both
classes must be attended to receive credit. The next session will
be offered Fridays, Jan. 22 and 29, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The refresher class is offered to residents who have taken
the eight-hour class within the last four years.
The next refresher course will be offered on Friday, Feb. 26,
from 12:30 to 5 p.m.
Classes are taught in Multipurpose Room 3 at Gateway.
The cost of the class is $12 for AARP members and $14 for
nonmembers.
Residents must sign up in person at the Excursion Desk in
the Recreation Department at Gateway. For information, call
