Contributing Authors
John Algeo, Ph.D., is Professor of English at the University of
Georgia, Athens, where he has served as director of the
linguistics curriculum and head of the department of English.
He has authored a number ofscholarlybooks, and, as a student
of the ancient wisdom, wrote Reincarnation Explored. Dr. Algeo
serves as a consultant for a variety of organizations including
the National Endowment for the Humanities, and is currently
a Vice-President of the Theosophical Society in America.
Nathaniel Altman, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, is
a writer and counselor living in Brooklyn, New York. He is
the author of over a dozen books on subjects such as vege-
tarianism, holistic health, palmistry and nonviolence. He
coauthored (with Jose A. Rosa, M.D.) Finding Your Personal
Power Spots, on which this article is based.
Laurence Bendit, M.D., 1898-1974, psychiatrist, lecturer, and
J.
author, was awarded three degrees from Cambridge University
(M.A., M.D., and B. Chir.). Dr. Bendit also studied under Dr.
Carl Jung. He made a substantial contribution to the literature
of psychology and theosophy, including the books Self
Knowledge: A Yoga for the West, and The Mirror ofLife and Death.
Geoffrey Farthing has authored Exploring the Great Beyond, When
We Die and Theosophy, What's itallAbout? He became interested
in esoteric studies in 1932 and has been a deep student since
that time. Mr. Farthing is the Founder and Trustee of the
BlavatskyTrustwhich hasthe objectofpromotinga knowledge
of the writings of H. P. Blavatsky and the teachings of her
Masters. He is currently on the executive committee of the
Theosophical Society in England and lectures internationally
for this organization.

Matthew Fox, a Dominican Scholar, is Director of the Institute
in Culture and Creation Spirituality at Holy Names College,
Oakland, California. In addition to lecturing widely, he has
authored many books on spirituality and personal transforma-
tion, including Original Blessing, The Coming of the Cosmic
Christ, and Meditations with Meister Eckhart.
G. Don Gilmore ministers to the members of the Plymouth Con-
gregational Church in Spokane, Washington. He is the author
of several books, including Angels, Angels, Everywhere; Letters
from a Previously Unpublished Angel; Extra Spiritual Power and
others. In addition, Gilmore has a daily radio program heard
in the northwest called "Perspective on Living."
Michael Grosso, Ph.D., received his doctorate in philosophy from
Columbia University. He currently teaches philosophy and
humanities at Jersey City State College, and researches the
evolutionary implications of extended human abilities. Dr.
Grossoistheauthor ofTheFinalChoiceand anumberofarticles.
Hildegard of Bingen, 1098-1179, is becoming well known today
as a prolific, energetic, and original feminist. In addition to
being abbess of a large Benedictine abbey in the Rhineland
valley, she was a prominent artist, scientist, doctor, poet,
composer and spiritual teacher, with nine books and seventy
poems to her credit. Spiritual visions began to appear to
her at the age of forty-two, which she documented as thirty-six
illuminations and text, entitled Scivias (Know the Ways).
Jim H. Hindes, agraduate ofthe UniversityofCalifornia atBerkeley
in Philosophy, first became interested in the work of Rudolf
Steiner in 1966. He attended a theological Seminary in
Germany (Die Freie Hochschule der Christengemeinschaft),
and was ordained as a priest in "The Christian Community,
Movement for Religious Renewal," an independent church
able to incorporate many of Rudolf Steiner's insights into
the framework of traditional Christian theology. Since then
he has worked as a pastor of congregations in Germany,
England, and the United States. His writings include numerous
articles on religious and theological themes, and translations
of books.
