I have laade many inquiries but find that
the Ainu have nmvr lieard of a " p pear-thrower"
and I have nrnvr heard of a name for one
among them.
The first word you mention is the Japanese
ohyo, the Ainu is at, "elm fibre", of which
they make their native cloth, Tiie other word

I am at the dictionary daily and it is

cannot take 500 copies I shall be unable to i
rint it as I have spent all my money on the

Ainu and have none left. Itjwill be a pity to
leave it unpublished and th re is no one livig^

that would be great pity.
