Le minime occasioni – una donna che gioca ai dadi o alle carte, una donna che canta, piange o si lava le gambe – diventano ombre, disegnate sul «fugace argento» dell’acqua: perdute in uno specchio nitidissimo e funerario, che nessuna mano sposta. Oggi ammiriamo in queste liriche soprattutto l’incantevole grazia madrigalesca, che scioglie i concetti e le arguzie nella sua onda delicata e leggera; e attorno a esse ci sembra di ascoltare ancora l’eco molteplice che hanno suscitato nelle musiche di Monteverdi e Frescobaldi. </p>
