PROGRAM This is a PMRS residency experience and offers additional credentialing in Reconstructive Rearfoot & Ankle Surgery.
OVERVIEW The PGY-1 year is at Stroger Hospital of Cook County. During this year, the resident participates in an extremely busy clinic and in
numerous surgical procedures, including podiatric, orthopedic, and trauma in a county hospital setting. There are additional rotations in
Anesthesiology, Behavioral Sciences, Orthopedic Surgery, Pathology and Radiology.
The PGY-2 & 3 years are linked to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center a large community hospital which sponsors 10 other
residency programs and 3 Fellowship programs. The residents continue their training to increase proficiency in all areas of Podiatric
Medicine and Surgery. There are rotations in Emergency Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Trauma Surgery,
Orthopedic Surgery, Dermatology and Rheumatology. There is also another Advocate hospital, and the University of Chicago where
additional foot and ankle cases are covered.

PROGRAM The mission of Eastern Virginia Medical School's Podiatric Residency is to provide the highest quality of care to patients, while
OVERVIEW providing the highest caliber of podiatric surgery training and education in an academic and clinical environment. Each resident
develops a strong level of competence through the quality involvement of the EVMS faculty. Our program exposes residents to an
extraordinarily wide variety of patients and pathologies of the foot and ankle. Comprehensive competencies are presented to our
residents for their mastery. Residents are trained in both surgical and academic settings.
Through 25 years of experience, the director, Dr. Patrick Agnew, provides residency training ranging from care of infants and children
to adults. He is on the national Advisory Network for Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation, and is experienced in rare connective tissue
disorders. Dr. Agnew is the pediatric editor of the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Agnew’s knowledge and experience allows
him to educate the residents of conservative and surgical management of the F&A.

PROGRAM
OVERVIEW rogram involves both clinical and surgical experiences. The program has been approved as a PMSR and is being reviewed to convert
to the Rearfoot model during Fall of 2016. The program is also applying for an additonal increase in the number of residents. All
residents will rotate through the above institutions. Orthopedic program is available at Bellevue and Jacobi Hospital, New York City.
Residents will be embeeded with medical residents during the rotations. Weekly clinical & surgical lectures, and grand rounds are part

PROGRAM Beth Israel Deaconess is a primary teaching hospital of Harvard Med School with a level 1 Trauma Center. Residents enjoy access to
OVERVIEW the extensive libraries on campus, clinical skills labs, and cutting edge lectures in all aspects of medicine, surgery and research. This
is a high volume surg prog that provides exposure to all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, including trauma, reconstructive, elective,
and diabetic salvage procedures. Residents are expected to manage in-house patients in addition to running a clinic during their 1st
year and 3rd year. Chief residents participate in an international mission trip with ample opportunities to gain advanced surgical
training. This program is a very hands-on clinical experience with exposure to both Pod & Ortho Attendings. Research opportunities
are abundant, including the opportunity to participate in clinical trials, NIH funded research grants, and the necessary support to
engage in original research projects.
