Preface
Welcome to UKCI 2019, the 19th Annual UK Workshop on Computational
IntelligenceheldattheUniversityofPortsmouth.UKCIserieshasbeenoneofthe
most important academic meetings in the field of computational intelligence in the
UK and continuously supported by Springer. This year, UKCI 2019 is held in
conjunction with EDMA-2019, the 3rd International Engineering Data- and
Model-Driven Applications Workshop.
UKCI 2019 covers both theory and applications in computational intelligence
systems and has been most successful in attracting a total of 63 submissions
addressing the state-of-the-art development and research covering topics related to
fuzzysystems,intelligence inrobotics,deeplearningapproaches,optimisationand
classification, detection, inference and prediction, hybrid methods, emerging
intelligence, intelligent healthcare and engineering data- and model-driven
applications. Following the rigorous reviews of the submissions, a total of 45
papers(71%acceptancerate)wereselectedtobepresentedintheconferenceduring
6–8September2019.WehopethatthepublishedpapersofUKCI2019willprove
to be technically constructive and helpful to the research community of computa-
tional intelligence.
