Abstract ThisisthesecondpartofthestudyofPtesiophthalmusanditsallied
genera.EightnewspeciesofthegenusPlesiophthalmus,anewspeciesofJavamarygmus,
andalsoa newspeciesofEuspinamarygmusaredescribed fromEast Asia. They are
namedasfollows:Plesiophthalmusyukaesp nov.,Rgaoligongensissp nov.,Rkume1sp
nov.,Rcaobangensissp nov.,Rthalperpulchrussp nov.,Revaesp nov.,Rtsugeaesp

whichareborderedand rimmed, thoughtherimsare invisible fromabove inmale,
scarcelysoin female; frontanglessubrectangularwithacutecorners,hindanglesal-
mostrectangular,withslightlyproducedcorners;discstronglyconvex,scatteredwith
microscopic punctures. Scutellum wide triangular, irregularly scattered with small
punctures,whichareslightlylargerthanthoseonpronotum.

Nlotes. Ihavecommonlyobservedthevioletandpurplishspecimensatthesame
placeoftheforestsinNorthThailand.Atfirst,Ibelievedthat thereoccurredtwodif-
ferentspecies.Recently,Mr.StanislavBECvARsuggestedtomethatthetwotypesof
specimensquitedifferentincolorationshouldbelongtothesamespecies.Ihavecon-
firmedthisontheoccasionofthisstudy.
ThemaleofthisnewspeciesresemblesPlesiophthalmusviolaceus(Pfc, l926),a
memberofthespecies-groupofPex:cottons,originallydescribed fromCambodia,but
thetypespecimenissmallerandlessconvex,andbesides,violetinthefemale.
PIcdescribedmany“species”ofPlesiophthalmusbased on females from In-
dochina.JudgingfromsuchsexualdimorphismincolorationasisfoundinRyukae,a
careful re-examinationofthetypesandmaterialsbelonging tothespecies-groups f)
tonkinensisandPex:cottonsfromthisareashouldbeneededinfutureforclarifyingthe
truesystematicstatusofthespeciesinvolved.

tarsistronglymetallicallyshining;elytradully,somewhatalutaceouslyshining,ventral

opposite to scutellum; sides rather steeply declined to lateral margins, which are
clearlyborderedandfinelyrimmed,therimsvisible fromabove; frontanglessubrec-
tangularwithpointedcorners,hindanglesalmost rectangular; discstrongly,slightly
transverselyconvex,veryshallowlyimpressedinmiddle,whollypolishedbutscattered

elytrawithnoticeabledeepvioletbluepatchesinthepostero-1atera1parts,andthemale

thelatterbythesmallerbody,withslendererlegs,thedifferentelytra1colour_patches,
andthedifferentlyshapedmalegenitalia.
MASuMOTo(1990,p719)mentionedthespecies-groupof1)perpulchrus,whjch

1990, f「omN.Vietnam,and1)nlshikawai(MAsUMoTo,1981) fromTaiwan.TheTaj_
waneseonePossessesaeumolpoidbody withdorsal surfacesimply darkbronzy jn
colourandlackingiridescentpatches.Thisspeciesthereforeshouldbeexcluded from
theSpecies-groupandformsanewgrouptogetherwithRsparsepunctatus(pfc, lg25),

castaneousinmajorparts,somewhatbrassyinsuturalportions,deeppurpleinpostero-
lateralportions,basalpartsof femoraandtibiaedarkblue,apicalpartsof thesame
darkviolet;dorsalsurfacestronglyandmetallicallyshining,ventralsurfaceratheralu-
taceous.0vate;stronglyconvexabove,ratherhunchbacked.
